I was expecting just another cookie-cutter place in Tallinn’s city center, but this spot on Villardi tänav actually has some real character to it. The building feels authentically Estonian – none of that glossy hotel chain vibe you get everywhere else. When I first walked up to number 23, I honestly thought I might be in the wrong place because it blends so naturally into the neighborhood, but that’s actually what I ended up loving about it.

The location is pretty genius if you ask me. You’re literally in the heart of everything without being stuck on some touristy main drag where you can’t sleep because of street noise. Villardi tänav is one of those streets where actual locals live and work, so you get this real sense of what Tallinn feels like day-to-day. I could walk to Old Town in maybe ten minutes – and I mean a leisurely walk, not some power-walking marathon. The grocery stores and little cafes nearby aren’t trying to gouge tourists either, which was refreshing. There’s this bakery just around the corner that I stumbled into every morning, and the woman working there started recognizing me by day three.

The apartment itself has that lived-in comfort that you can’t fake in brand new places. Sure, it’s not going to blow you away with fancy amenities, but everything works exactly like it should, and honestly, that’s what matters when you’re actually staying somewhere for more than one night. The kitchen was properly stocked – I mean, they had actual sharp knives and decent pans, not the usual hotel apartment junk. The WiFi was solid (I was working remotely part of the time), and the shower had real water pressure, which is more than I can say for some supposedly fancier places I’ve stayed. The 8.5 rating it’s got makes total sense to me – it’s not trying to be something it isn’t, but it delivers on what actually matters to travelers who want to feel settled rather than just housed. Parking was straightforward too, which if you’ve ever tried to navigate Tallinn’s old streets with a rental car, you’ll appreciate more than you think.
