Unique Kalaranna District Apartments by the Sea Overview

You know what caught me off guard about Unique Kalaranna District Apartments by the Sea? The name actually undersells the place – I mean, sure, it’s in Kalaranna and yes, you’re practically on the waterfront, but there’s something refreshingly unpretentious about these apartments that makes them feel like a local secret rather than just another tourist crash pad.

The Kalaranna area itself is this cool former industrial district that’s been transformed into something between a cultural hub and a residential neighborhood. Walking around, you’ll notice the old warehouse bones are still there, but now they house galleries, quirky cafes, and these apartment buildings that somehow manage to feel both modern and rooted in the area’s maritime history. The sea air hits you as soon as you step outside – not that salty tourist-trap smell, but something cleaner, mixed with the scent of pine from the nearby parks. Honestly, I spent way more time than planned just wandering the waterfront promenade that runs right along the district. There’s this great stretch where locals jog in the mornings and families gather for picnics in the evenings, and you realize you’re experiencing Tallinn (because let’s be real, that’s where we are) the way people actually live here, not just visit.

What I really appreciated was how the apartments strike this balance between having your own space and feeling connected to the neighborhood. The units themselves are well-equipped – nothing fancy, but everything you need is there and actually works (which, let’s face it, isn’t always guaranteed at three-star places). The kitchenettes mean you can grab fresh ingredients from the local markets and cook with a view of the sea, though honestly, with all the interesting restaurants popping up in the area, I found myself eating out more than I’d planned. Parking was surprisingly easy, which anyone who’s driven in European city centers will appreciate, and the whole check-in process was refreshingly straightforward. The 9.1 rating makes sense when you experience it – it’s not trying to be luxury, but it delivers exactly what it promises with a level of care that feels genuine. If you’re the kind of traveler who wants to feel like you’re staying in a neighborhood rather than a hotel district, and you don’t mind being a short tram ride from Old Town instead of right in the thick of things, this place gets it right.

Reviews of Unique Kalaranna District Apartments by the Sea

  • Karel from Czech Republic – 9 December 2024 (10/10)

The room was a short walk from the centre, so accessibility was great and it was clean, well equipped and I have to mention the great reception in the centre of Tallinn. Very nice people working there 🙂 Really great feeling of the whole stay

    What could be improved: X

  • Roman from Czech Republic – 9 August 2024 (10/10)

The location was just on the beach (ideal for sunset strolls) and only short walk from the city centre and and boat terminals, also one stairs from great coffee shop with bakery.
The building was brand new with contactless check in. The apartment had everything you need for longer stay.

What could be improved: There could definitely be more cookware (bigger pots, bowls) to be able to cook properly.

  • Nikita from Germany – 18 June 2024 (10/10)

The clean and spacious apartment is located in the new Kalaranna neighbourhood, just a ten-minute walk from Old Town.
It has everything you might need for a short- or mid-term stay, with brand-new, high-quality amenities.

We had some trouble collecting the keys, but the staff quickly resolved it and sent someone to hand them over to us personally.

I'm 100% sure we'll stay in the same apartment next time we're in Tallinn – I highly recommend it!

  • Marika from Finland – 9 May 2024 (8/10)

    Comfortable, clean and modern

  • Inga from Latvia – 29 April 2024 (9/10)

Great location, fresh and clean apartment. Amazing city 🙂
We had a problem with a chip for garage but it was quickly resolved with staff. Thank you very much! Hopefully will come back soon again.

  • Martin from Hungary – 15 April 2024 (10/10)

What could be improved: Difficult to find the parking spot.

  • Anett from Estonia – 13 March 2024 (10/10)

Beautiful accommodation, comfortable, nice shower. Plenty of space. The private parking option is wonderful. Easy to check in and check out. Nice short walk away from Old Town. Really nice coffee shop nearby!

What could be improved: Would have loved a toaster – we had to bake all the bread in the oven or fry it (unless we were blind and didn't find it). 😀 Otherwise, great selection of utensils.

  • Paulius from Lithuania – 17 February 2024 (9/10)

Location was perfect, near to old town, sea and Estonian Lennusadam museum. Room was cozy and comfortable. In the room is small kitchen, private bathroom and everything what you need.

What could be improved: In booking app they say, there are free parking. But when we came to the apartment, they told us that location doesn't have free pakring. There is underground garage, but you need to pay. 10Eur for 24hours.

  • Yvar_ from Netherlands – 5 December 2023 (9/10)

Lovely new apartment just a short walk away from Old Town and even closer to public transport! Really spacious and it was nice and quiet inside the apartment. Would definitely recommend it 🙂

  • Mckinney from United States – 15 November 2023 (8/10)

    Location and size

What could be improved: Clean service missed a few places.
The unit is not set up for anything very basic cooking.
