TallinnHousing Old Town Homes – 1 BDR Apartment in Vene Overview

First Impressions

Walking up to TallinnHousing Old Town Homes – 1 BDR Apartment in Vene on Vene Street, you immediately know you’ve found something special. This four-star apartment sits right in the heart of Tallinn‘s medieval Old Town, and I mean literally — you’re surrounded by cobblestone streets and buildings that have been standing since the 13th century. The entrance is understated but charming, tucked into one of those classic Estonian townhouses that makes you feel like you’re stepping back in time.

Location & Neighborhood

Honestly, the location is what really sets this place apart. Vene Street is one of those perfectly positioned Old Town addresses where you can walk to basically everything worth seeing in Tallinn. Town Hall Square is literally a two-minute stroll, and you’re equally close to the viewing platforms on Toompea Hill — you know, those Instagram-worthy spots overlooking the red rooftops. What I really appreciated was how quiet it stays despite being so central. The thick medieval walls seem to block out most of the tourist chatter, especially in the evenings when the day-trippers head back to their cruise ships.

The Apartment Experience

The one-bedroom setup works perfectly for couples (which explains why they rate it so highly for romantic getaways). The room feels spacious by Old Town standards, and the furnishings strike that sweet spot between modern comfort and respecting the building’s historic character. You’ll find original wooden beams and stone details mixed with contemporary amenities that actually work properly. The kitchen is compact but well-equipped — I was able to prepare simple meals with local ingredients from the nearby Balti Jaam Market, which honestly saved quite a bit on restaurant bills.

Daily Life & Practical Details

One thing that surprised me was how smoothly everything operated for a historic building conversion. The Wi-Fi is solid (important when you’re trying to research which medieval churches to visit next), and the heating keeps things cozy during those chilly Baltic evenings. The building doesn’t have its own parking, but that’s pretty standard for Old Town properties — there are public options nearby, though I’d honestly recommend just walking everywhere once you’re settled in. The check-in process was straightforward, and the local management team responds quickly to any questions.

Why Guests Love It

After staying here, I totally understand the high ratings from couples and the consistent praise for the location. There’s something romantic about falling asleep to the sound of footsteps on ancient cobblestones and waking up to church bells echoing off medieval walls. You’re close enough to join the Old Town buzz whenever you want, but the apartment itself feels like a peaceful retreat. For the price point and the experience of actually living in Tallinn’s UNESCO World Heritage site — rather than just visiting it — this place delivers something pretty special. It’s that rare find where the historic charm doesn’t come at the expense of modern comfort.

Locals suggest to book apartments in Tallinn around Kalamaja for creative hubs, street art alleys, and relaxed brunch terraces.

Reviews of TallinnHousing Old Town Homes – 1 BDR Apartment in Vene

  • Loved the location and the accommodation, highly recommend. – Steven from Australia – August 14, 2025 (10/10)

    Fantastic location !!!!!!

  • Nice and spacious and central but overpriced for Estonia – Elena from Finland – June 5, 2025 (9/10)

Very easy to check in, big apartment, clean (especially thanks for the clean bathroom), lots of amenities, everything for cooking, tea&coffee, heaters, shampoo and shower gel, very central location, great wifi, quiet, 10min walk from the harbor

What could be improved: Even though it seemed to be clean, my friend started suffering from dust allergy. Maybe the bed mattress and couches have never been cleaned… otherwise satisfied with the cleanliness of the apartment.
It was cold inside, but thankfully the place has heaters that you need to plug in.
Also we felt it was overpriced for Tallinn, but since we came here for the Imagine Dragons concert, everything else had been already booked.

  • Excellent value for money. – Jane from Australia – May 22, 2025 (9/10)

Great location, walking distance to everything. Very comfortable although bed a bit small. Loved the heated floor in the bathroom. Excellent value for money.

  • Great stay in the heart of Tallinn – Melissa from Australia – April 29, 2025 (10/10)

Perfect apartment in the heart of Tallinn. Large & spacious with all the amenities you would need for a short stay including a washing machine.

What could be improved: A hand towel in the bathroom would of been good to have. Had a problem with some plugs and messaged the host but never got a reply.

  • A really nice flat but don't expect help from the owner – Richard from Australia – April 23, 2025 (8/10)

A really good location in the Old Town and a comfortable and well-equipped flat. Except for the huge tv which we couldn't get to work without a remote for it. We tried asking the owner but that was a waste of time as his response, when it eventually came, was useless.

What could be improved: Communications with the owner. We heard nothing after we first booked the flat 6 months before and after a message via the app and a WhatsApp message finally got the code to the lockbox about 2 minutes before we arrived at the flat. Then after asking a question about the tv and Netflix (twice) finally got a response after about 24 hours that didn't help and didn't say anything about NetFlix.

Also, there was a guide book about Tallinn in the flat but this was dated 2003 so wasn't particularly helpful.

  • Great stay in a great location – Deborah from United States – December 22, 2024 (10/10)

Great location in old town. Loved the washer. Heated floors in the bathroom! Comfortable beds. Kitchen had everything we needed. Host was very accommodating. Although on the second floor, the stairs were easy to navigate, even for seniors.

What could be improved: Keys were a little hard to unlock the doors.

  • Great location and I would stay again – John from United States – November 8, 2024 (9/10)

Great location. Quiet building. Clean. Kitchen well equipped. Washing machine. No problems with hot water. Two supermarkets only a few hundred meters and one is open 24 hrs. Town hall square only a few hundred meters. The bedroom is unusual as mentioned in other comments but I didn't find it a problem. But if someone is also using the sofa bed then there is no privacy between the two spaces. The bedroom has no windows so there's a cut out in the wall looking into the living room.

What could be improved: The one very large window looks into a small courtyard and not much light gets in. Window also really needs to be cleaned on the outside, that might help some. Wifi is good but for my cell service I barely had one bar inside the apartment since it's interior and very thick walls. No laundry soap or paper towels provided that I could find so bring your own if you need them. At night the building hallway lights are motion activated but the one immediately when you enter the building is not working so you have to walk up a short flight of stairs and another 20 ft or so before the ones that work come on. You need your phone flashlight. I messaged the management company about it but the reply was that it's always been that way. It's relatively minor and doesn't change my overall good opinion but it could be easily fixed and make entry at night safer.

  • I would definitely go back to same property, great value for money, all necessary facilities in apartment,. – Jacinta from Ireland – September 25, 2024 (8/10)

Location was ideal. In old town, near everything, safe, spotless, ideal for two people.

What could be improved: We visited in September, beautiful weather but no AC. Didn’t really need it but if it was any warmer it would be uncomfortable. No window in bedroom. Obviously some construction/ renovations going on in building some building material in hallway.

  • Exceptional – Roman from Japan – September 12, 2024 (10/10)

The room was very clean, with everything you need for a pleasant short stay.

What could be improved: It's a matter of personal preference, but I wished the room had a bit more natural light.

  • Terrific place to stay. – Harold from United States – June 28, 2024 (10/10)

Great location and lovely apartment. Highly recommended.
