I’ll be honest – when I first saw Tallinn City Apartments – 2 bedroom on Old Town main street Viru listed online, I was a bit skeptical about staying right on Viru street. I mean, it’s literally the main drag leading into Old Town, so you’d expect it to be touristy and loud, right? Well, turns out I was both right and completely wrong.

The location is absolutely unbeatable if you actually want to explore Tallinn properly. You’re maybe thirty seconds from Viru Gate (those iconic medieval towers everyone photographs), and honestly, you can just roll out of bed and be wandering the cobblestone streets before the tour groups arrive. What surprised me though was how quiet the apartment actually gets once you close the windows – these old buildings have thick walls, and the double-paned windows do their job. The two bedrooms are genuinely spacious, not those cramped European “bedrooms” that barely fit a bed. The kitchen’s actually functional too, which matters if you’re staying more than a couple nights and want to grab groceries from the Rimi down the street instead of eating out every meal.

You know what really sold me on this place? The little details that show someone actually thought about what travelers need. There’s proper hangers in the closets (not those weird hotel ones), the WiFi doesn’t cut out every ten minutes, and – this might sound silly – but the shower has decent water pressure. I’ve stayed in plenty of Old Town places where you get a sad trickle of lukewarm water. The building itself feels solid and well-maintained, not like some of the sketchy “historic” places that are basically falling apart. The 9.1 rating makes total sense once you’re there – it’s not trying to be fancy, it’s just really good at being exactly what it should be. Fair warning though: if you’re coming during White Nights or Christmas market season, book way ahead because spots like this in prime Old Town locations get snatched up fast. Also, parking can be tricky around Viru street, so factor that in if you’re driving – though honestly, once you’re this central, you probably won’t need your car much anyway. The whole Old Town is walkable, and if you need to get to Kadriorg or the beach, the tram stops are right there.
