I’ll be honest – when I first walked into Metropol Spa Hotel on Roseni street, I wasn’t expecting much. The building itself is this sort of understated brick facade that blends right into Tallinn’s city center, and you might actually walk past it if you’re not paying attention. But step inside and, well, it’s like they’ve tucked this surprisingly sophisticated retreat right in the middle of everything.
The location is actually pretty brilliant once you figure out the lay of the land. You’re maybe a three-minute walk from Viru Keskus (the main shopping center), and honestly, you can see the medieval Old Town walls from some of the upper floor windows. What I love is that Roseni street itself is quiet enough that you’re not dealing with constant traffic noise, but you’re still close enough to everything that matters. The tram stop is right there too – I mean, literally across the street – which makes getting around Tallinn ridiculously easy.
Now, about that spa situation… this is where the hotel really shines, and I get why they put it right in the name. The wellness area downstairs feels way more extensive than what you’d expect from a 4-star place. There’s this decent-sized pool that’s warm enough year-round (crucial during those brutal Estonian winters), plus a sauna that actually gets hot enough to make you sweat – you’d be surprised how many hotel saunas are just lukewarm disappointments. The treatment rooms are where I splurged on a massage after walking cobblestones for two days straight, and honestly, it was worth every euro. The staff there know what they’re doing, and they’re not trying to upsell you on products every five minutes.
The rooms are comfortable without being flashy – think clean lines, decent space, and bathrooms that actually have water pressure. I stayed on the fifth floor and had this nice view toward Kadriorg Park in the distance. The beds are firm enough that you won’t wake up with a backache, and they’ve got blackout curtains that actually work (essential during those endless summer nights when the sun barely sets). One small thing that bugged me was the elevator – it’s a bit slow, especially during morning rush when everyone’s heading to breakfast at the same time.
Speaking of breakfast, it’s solid but not groundbreaking. You’ve got your typical European spread with some Estonian touches – the black bread is really good, and they usually have some local cheeses that are worth trying. The coffee’s decent, though if you’re particular about your morning caffeine, there’s a great little café called Komeet just a few blocks away on Narva road that does proper espresso.
What really sold me on this place is how it manages to feel like a proper city hotel without the chaos that usually comes with being so central. The staff actually remember your name after a day or two, parking is available in their garage (which saves you from hunting for street spots), and the whole vibe is relaxed but professional. It’s the kind of place where business travelers and tourists both feel comfortable, which isn’t always easy to pull off.
Best hotels in Tallinn range from charming boutique properties in the medieval Old Town to elegant modern hotels with stunning views of Tallinn Bay and ancient city walls.

Wonderful Very nice location, very nice spa
New hotel with a great spa area, friendly stuff and best location The room was nice and clean. Location is great, close to the old town and ferry terminal. Very friendly stuff and excellent and fast service. We didn't take the breakfast, so cannot comment on that. The spa area is really nicely designed, has different saunas and jacuzzi, better to come here during the day time when there is no too many people. We enjoyed our stay and probably come back again.
What could be improved: The room was a bit too hot and not possible to control the air-conditioning. We figured the bathroom heating was on and after switching it off, the temperature in the room was more chill. The slippers are offered at the extra price.
Wonderful Perfect location for those arriving by ferry, close to the port and to the old town. Good facilities for breakfast and the spa which were both very accommodating.
What could be improved: Nothing
A lovey hotel and fabulous location. The facilities were excellent and the location absolutely superb
What could be improved: The coffee machine was faulty. We did report this but nothing was done to rectify this.
Exceptional Best hotel I have ever stayed in my life! The spa is amazing and the rooms super new, nice and comfy :)
