You know what struck me first about 100 steps from City? The name actually isn’t exaggerating – I literally counted my steps from the main downtown area, and honestly, it’s pretty much spot on. I mean, maybe it’s closer to 120 if you’re dragging a heavy suitcase, but who’s counting?

This 4-star place has that solid, dependable feel that frequent travelers will recognize immediately. Nothing too flashy, but everything works the way it should. The lobby has this warm, lived-in atmosphere – not sterile like some chain hotels, but not trying too hard to be boutique either. Check-in was refreshingly quick, and the staff actually seemed to know the neighborhood when I asked about dinner recommendations. That’s rarer than you’d think these days.

Location-wise, you’re genuinely in the thick of things without dealing with the chaos of being right on the main strip. I could walk to most of the places I wanted to check out, grab coffee in the morning without having to plan an expedition, and – this was clutch – there’s actually decent street parking if you’re driving in. During the week it gets pretty busy around here, but weekends have this nice mellowed-out vibe where you can actually enjoy being in the city center without feeling overwhelmed.

The 7.0 rating feels about right to me – it’s not going to blow you away, but it’s not going to let you down either. I’ve stayed in places with higher ratings that left me more frustrated, honestly. Sometimes what you want is just a well-run hotel that gets the basics right and doesn’t charge you extra for WiFi or make you feel like you’re bothering them when you need something.
