You know what struck me first about Rotermanni Guest Apartments? The building itself – it’s got this gorgeous industrial heritage vibe that perfectly captures Tallinn’s old quarter charm. I mean, the Rotermann Quarter has become this incredible blend of restored 19th-century factories and modern Estonian design, and these apartments sit right in the sweet spot of all that energy.

The apartments themselves are honestly impressive for a 3-star place. I’ve stayed in plenty of so-called luxury hotels that felt more sterile than these spaces. Each unit has this thoughtful layout that actually makes sense – proper kitchen setups if you want to grab ingredients from the nearby markets, and living areas where you can spread out your stuff without feeling cramped. The windows are generous too, which matters more than you’d think when you’re dealing with those short Baltic winter days. What really got me though was how quiet it stays at night, even though you’re literally surrounded by some of Tallinn’s best restaurants and that buzzing creative quarter scene.

The location is pretty brilliant if you ask me. You’re a five-minute walk from Viru Gate and the medieval old town – close enough that you don’t need taxis, but far enough that you’re not dealing with cruise ship crowds at your doorstep every morning. There’s this little Estonian design shop practically next door, and honestly, some of the city’s best coffee happens within a two-block radius. I found myself just wandering around the cobblestone streets here more than anywhere else in the city. Parking can be a bit of a puzzle (welcome to European city centers), but the front desk folks actually know the neighborhood well enough to point you toward the less obvious spots. The whole check-in experience was refreshingly straightforward too – none of that overly formal hotel theater, just practical people who clearly care about the place running smoothly. That 9-point rating makes total sense when you experience how the small details just work here.
