Old Town – Vana Turg Apartment
Look, I'll be honest – when I first heard about Old Town - Vana Turg Apartment, I wasn't sure what to expect.
Look, I’ll be honest – when I first heard about Old Town – Vana Turg Apartment, I wasn’t sure what to expect. The name literally means “Old Market” in Estonian, which should have been my first clue that this place would be something special. You know what struck me immediately when I walked up? The building itself has this weathered stone facade that’s clearly seen centuries of Baltic winters, but someone’s taken real care to restore it properly – none of that glossy renovation nonsense that strips away all the character.
The apartment sits right in the heart of Tallinn’s Old Town, and I mean RIGHT in it. You’re basically living among cobblestones that have been worn smooth by tourists and locals alike for hundreds of years. What’s actually brilliant about the location is that you’re close enough to all the medieval charm – the Town Hall Square is maybe a three-minute walk – but tucked away enough that you’re not dealing with tour groups marching past your windows at 7 AM. The evening soundscape is perfect, honestly. You’ll hear the distant murmur of people enjoying dinner at the outdoor cafes, maybe some street musicians if the weather’s nice, but it settles into this lovely quiet once night falls. I stayed here in September, which locals told me is actually the sweet spot – summer crowds have thinned out but the weather’s still mild enough to wander the ramparts without freezing.
The apartment itself feels like someone’s stylish Estonian grandmother decided to embrace modern living. Original wooden beams overhead, thick stone walls that keep things wonderfully cool in summer (and warm in winter, I imagine), but with all the practical touches you actually need – proper Wi-Fi, a kitchen that’s actually usable for more than making coffee, and a bathroom where you don’t have to duck under low medieval doorways. The beds are comfortable in that European way where the linens are crisp and somehow always perfectly pressed. What really sold me was the little details – fresh flowers on the table when I arrived, a basket with local honey and black bread, and windows that open wide to let in that particular Baltic air that smells faintly of sea salt and old timber. The 8.6 rating makes total sense to me – it’s not trying to be a luxury hotel with marble everything, but it nails exactly what you want when you’re exploring a place like Tallinn. You feel like you’re living there, not just passing through in some anonymous hotel room.

What Our Guests Say
Exceptional The house is in a fantastic location, everything is walking distance, in the heart of the old city. It is a clean, large apartment, it is well, modernly furnished, the furniture is new. There is heat in the house, Wi-Fi works well. It is a quiet environment, the kitchen is fully equipped for cooking. There is a dishwasher, which saved us time. Dishes, glasses. Coffee and tea, detergents were found. The linens and the house were quite clean. The house is in an old building, there is no elevator (5th floor), this did not create comfort for us. The owner was very prompt in his responses, good-natured and helpful. We were 7 people and not all of us were comfortable, it didn't feel like there were so many people in the house. There is a TV and a fireplace. One bedroom, the third one, does not have a separate door (two are independent), it was not inconvenient for us, friends. I recommend to everyone!!!
Wonderful Very large apartment with great bedrooms and bathroom. Certainly one of the best places to stay in the old town. Really big and very very quiet.
It was a nice place to spend the night. Location was excellent and the rooms were nice.
Very Good Apartment is quite spacious, good for family. Look from windows is great! Location excellent, in the middle of old Town.
Wonderful Perfect location

We really enjoyed staying in the apartment. The location is great…
Very Good The apartment was wide and very open
Wonderful Very spacious, nice apartment in the center of the old city. Spotless clean. Fully equipped, including AC, sauna and fireplace. A lot of sleeping spaces, big sofa is extremely comfortable for relaxing. Good contact with the host, self check-in. Note that there are neither windows blinds nor curtains and sunrise may be around 5am.
Short 2 nights city trip. Vary spacious. Nice penthouse apartment. No lift, so for some it might be too much steps as it was many floors to the apartment.
