Honestly, when I first walked into Old Town – Suur Karja Apartment, I wasn’t expecting much – you know how apartment rentals can be hit or miss. But this place actually surprised me in the best way. The building itself has that authentic medieval Tallinn vibe without feeling like you’re sleeping in a museum, if that makes sense. You’re right in the heart of the Old Town, and I mean literally – step outside and you’re on cobblestones that have been there for centuries.
What really struck me was how quiet it gets at night, despite being so central. During the day, sure, you’ll hear tourists wandering around (especially in summer when the cruise ships dock), but once evening hits, it’s surprisingly peaceful. The apartment itself feels properly lived-in rather than sterile – there’s actual character here. The kitchen is well-equipped enough that you could cook a proper meal, which honestly saved me quite a bit since Old Town restaurants can get pricey. I actually ended up grabbing fresh bread from that little bakery on Viru street most mornings and having breakfast by the window, watching people navigate the cobblestones below.
The location is genuinely unbeatable if you want to explore on foot. Town Hall Square is maybe a two-minute walk – I timed it because I’m weird like that – and you can reach the viewing platforms on Toompea Hill without breaking a sweat. What I really appreciated was being close enough to duck back during the day if I needed to drop off shopping bags or grab a jacket. You know what though? Fair warning about those cobblestones if you’re dragging a wheeled suitcase – your arms will feel it. The building entrance is a bit tricky to find the first time (look for the small sign, not obvious from the street), but once you figure it out, you’ll feel like you’ve discovered some local secret. The 8.3 rating feels about right – it’s not luxury, but it’s solid and authentic, with that slightly worn charm that makes you feel like you’re actually living in Tallinn rather than just visiting. I’d definitely stay here again, particularly in shoulder season when the Old Town isn’t completely overrun with tour groups.

What Our Guests Say

What could be improved: Everything was good.
It was a great location and secure parking!
What could be improved: Top floor and the lift was broken.
The blankets were singles on a double bed?
The location was great, the kitchen and the rooms were very big and the view was lovely.
What could be improved: There was a weird oniony smell and the dishwasher didn’t work
More stuff ...
Beautiful property, great location
What could be improved: There was a funky smell in the toilet
location, spaciousness
What could be improved: The apartment was offered for rent in technically poor condition. You could feel the magic of the entire Tallinn sewer in it. The bathtub is only an object, to use it you have to be creative and make a cork yourself 😅
The place was great for a group of friends, lot of space and a huge bath! Very comfortable and close to the historic centre.
What could be improved: Grateful for the dishwasher but the cutlery wasn’t very clean and we didn’t have any sponge or products to hand wash and clean the tables.
Nice location and spacious apartments
Neat apartments in a convenient location in Tallinn.
What could be improved: We had no internet during our entire stay. The owner tried to solve it, but to no avail.
Very clean, spacious and great location. Comfy beds as well. Bonus for great shwarma right in front of the building! Easy self check-in.
What could be improved: Some of the lights need replacement but that didn't bother us too much. The elevator is super old, tiny and a bit scary.
