I actually ended up grabbing fresh bread from that little bakery on Viru street most mornings and having breakfast by the window, watching people navigate the cobblestones below.

The location is genuinely unbeatable if you want to explore on foot. Town Hall Square is maybe a two-minute walk – I timed it because I’m weird like that – and you can reach the viewing platforms on Toompea Hill without breaking a sweat. What I really appreciated was being close enough to duck back during the day if I needed to drop off shopping bags or grab a jacket. You know what though? Fair warning about those cobblestones if you’re dragging a wheeled suitcase – your arms will feel it. The building entrance is a bit tricky to find the first time (look for the small sign, not obvious from the street), but once you figure it out, you’ll feel like you’ve discovered some local secret.
