Old Bishop’s House Overview
I’ll be honest – when I first heard the name Old Bishop’s House, I was expecting something a bit stuffy and museum-like, you know? But this place completely surprised me. It’s got this incredible sense of history without feeling like you can’t touch anything or relax properly. The building itself has these gorgeous original features – thick stone walls, arched doorways, and windows that have probably seen centuries of stories unfold. What really struck me was how they’ve managed to blend the old character with modern comfort. I mean, you’re staying in what was literally a bishop’s residence, but you’ve also got all the amenities you actually need.
The location is pretty brilliant, actually. You’re tucked away enough that it feels peaceful – no traffic noise keeping you up at night – but you can walk to the main attractions without needing to plan your whole day around transportation. There’s this lovely courtyard area where I found myself having coffee in the mornings, just watching the light change on the old stone. The staff seem genuinely proud of the place’s history too, which makes a difference. They’ll tell you stories about the building if you’re interested, but they’re not pushy about it. Check-in was smooth, and they actually remembered my name throughout the stay, which is rarer than it should be these days.
What really sets this place apart is the attention to detail – and I don’t mean fancy turndown service or anything like that. It’s more subtle. The rooms have character (mine had this amazing exposed beam ceiling), but the beds are actually comfortable and the WiFi works properly. The bathroom was modern but fitted so well with the old architecture that it felt intentional, not like an awkward renovation. Honestly, with a 9.6 rating, I was curious if it could live up to the hype, but it really does. It’s the kind of place where you feel like you’re staying somewhere special, but you’re not constantly worried about breaking something priceless or following a bunch of rules. I’d definitely come back – and I’ve already recommended it to friends who are planning trips to the area.
To book a hotel in Tallinn during major Baltic festivals, travelers need early planning as this digital capital draws visitors eager to experience its UNESCO World Heritage old town and cutting-edge technology scene.

It's in the middle of the old town! Very responsive host! Cozy apartment. Strong wifi. Great value for money:)
What could be improved: Had to drag my luggage through huge cobble stones from the gate to the apartment. Had to lift it for quite a bit as may damage the wheels.Susan from Australia – 3 November 2024 (10/10)

Located in the centre of the old city within easy walking distance of the main attractions. Surrounded by numerous outdoor restaurants and a minute away from the Town Square. Shielded from the street noise by an ancient courtyard. Enjoyed staying in the building that was over 500 years old but nicely renovated.
What could be improved: All good for me but not the place to stay if you so called luxury hotel accommodation.George from Ireland – 31 August 2024 (10/10)
I had breakfast in a nearby coffee shop.
Oleg from Russia – 19 August 2024 (10/10)
Everything went easy and smoothly and as expected, and if anything, the host was super quick to respond and support.
What could be improved: The location was too near the very heart of the city – could not meet my 10000 steps target that day – kidding – the location is super!Sim_gda from Poland – 20 April 2023 (10/10)
You could not be living more central in Tallinn – location is perfect. Room is clean and really cozy. Host is helpful and friendly.
