Kalamaja apartment Overview
First Impressions
Walking up to Kalamaja apartment on Noole tänav, you immediately get the sense that you’ve stumbled onto something special in Tallinn. This four-star apartment sits right in the heart of Kalamaja — honestly, one of the coolest neighborhoods I’ve discovered in Estonia’s capital. The building itself has that perfectly restored Baltic charm, where old meets new without trying too hard to impress anyone.
The Kalamaja Neighborhood
You know what I love about staying here? Kalamaja isn’t touristy yet, but it’s got this incredible energy that locals have been talking about for years. I mean, you’re literally a ten-minute walk from Old Town, but you get to experience Tallinn like someone who actually lives here. The colorful wooden houses lining the streets tell stories of maritime workers and artists — and now there’s this amazing mix of galleries, cafes, and small shops that feel authentic rather than manufactured for visitors. The Balti Jaam market is practically around the corner, which is perfect if you want to grab some local produce or just wander around like I did most mornings.
The Space Itself
The room setup really works well for couples (apparently other guests agree — the feedback consistently mentions how perfect it is for romantic getaways). What struck me was how thoughtfully everything was arranged; there’s enough space to actually unpack and settle in, but it doesn’t feel cavernous or impersonal. The kitchen area is surprisingly well-equipped — I actually cooked a few meals using ingredients from the nearby market, which saved money and felt more like living in the city rather than just passing through. The windows let in this gorgeous northern light that changes throughout the day, and you can catch glimpses of the neighborhood’s daily rhythm from inside.
Getting Around
Here’s something that really matters but doesn’t always get mentioned — the location scored a 9.3 with recent guests, and I totally understand why. You’re close enough to walk everywhere that matters, but far enough from the cruise ship crowds that you can actually breathe. The tram connections are solid if you want to venture further out (the beach at Pirita is worth the trip), and there’s decent parking if you’ve rented a car to explore beyond Tallinn. I found myself walking to different parts of the city each day, using the apartment as a perfect home base rather than just a place to crash.
Why Guests Love It
That 8.9 rating makes complete sense once you’ve stayed here. It’s not trying to be the fanciest place in town — instead, it nails the things that actually matter when you’re traveling. The neighborhood feels safe and interesting, the space gives you room to breathe, and you’re positioned perfectly to explore both tourist highlights and local gems. Couples especially seem to appreciate the intimate scale and the fact that you can create your own rhythm rather than following a hotel’s schedule. Plus, there’s something satisfying about staying in a place where you feel like you’re getting an insider’s view of how Tallinn really works, beyond the medieval towers and souvenir shops.

Location, parking, self check-in./
What could be improved: You need second A/C block in a sleeping room, or get some convector heaters. I've been staying this area before, exactly same house type been using convector heater (about 1,5m long) and the room was warm in minutes.
