First Impressions
Walking up to Hotel St. Barbara on Roosikrantsi street, you immediately get that “I’m in the right place” feeling. This three-star property sits right in the heart of Tallinn‘s Old Town area, and honestly, the location alone makes it worth considering. The building has this understated charm — not flashy, but you can tell they’ve put thought into maintaining the place. What struck me first was how many guests seemed to be returning visitors, which always tells you something about a hotel.
The Perfect Spot
Here’s the thing about the location — couples absolutely love it here, and I can see why. You’re literally steps away from everything that makes Tallinn special, but tucked onto a quieter side street that doesn’t get the heavy tourist foot traffic. I mean, you can walk to the main square in about three minutes, but you’re not dealing with the noise and chaos right outside your window. The hotel offers private parking too, which is actually a big deal in this part of the city where finding a spot can be a real headache.
Your Room Experience
The room I stayed in was exactly what you’d expect from a well-run three-star place — clean, comfortable, and thoughtfully arranged. Nothing fancy, but everything worked properly, which is more than I can say for some pricier hotels I’ve tried. The beds are genuinely comfortable (not just hotel-speak comfortable), and the bathrooms are modern enough that you don’t feel like you’re stepping back in time. What I appreciated was the attention to small details — good lighting for reading, enough outlets for your devices, that sort of thing.
Morning Fuel
Breakfast here is actually pretty impressive for a three-star property. They’ve got a proper buffet setup with options that go beyond the usual continental fare — including vegan and gluten-free choices, which shows they’re paying attention to what travelers actually need these days. The restaurant area has this cozy, local feel rather than that sterile hotel dining room vibe you sometimes get. I found myself lingering over coffee longer than usual, which is always a good sign.
Why Guests Love It
You know what really sets Hotel St. Barbara apart? It’s that rare combination of being perfectly positioned without feeling touristy or impersonal. The fact that so many people come back tells the whole story — they’ve figured out how to make guests feel comfortable without trying too hard. The staff seems to genuinely know the neighborhood and can point you toward the good local spots, not just the obvious tourist attractions. For the price point, you’re getting solid value in one of Europe’s most charming capitals, and honestly, that’s harder to find than you might think.

Value for Money The location is near to Old Town. City center is not far away.
Room is comfortable. But I would prefer room with wooden floor instead of carpet.
Breakfast has all you need 😋 . That could bring you a perfect start of the day.

Wonderful Location. Super Clean
Very Good breakfast and location
Few frills, but a solid 3* property certainly worth considering. Quiet location, but still very close to Old Town - overall a good budget option.
Exceptional Great value for money. The hotel is situated in a nice historic building a few minutes’ walk from the old town of Tallinn. Parking is available for a fee (10 EUR) in the backyard of the hotel. Very good breakfast included. Nothing to complain about. It would definitely be our choice if we ever return to Tallinn.
