I’ll be honest – when I first heard the name Dream Stay – Old Town Church View Apartment with Sauna, I rolled my eyes a little. You know how these vacation rental names can be, right? All flowery and overselling what’s actually just a basic apartment. But this place actually delivers on that promise, which surprised me.

The church view thing isn’t just marketing speak – you really do wake up to this gorgeous old stone church right outside your window. I mean, depending on which room you’re in, obviously. The morning light hits those weathered stones just right, and honestly, it’s pretty magical with your coffee. What really sold me though was the sauna situation. Now, I’ve stayed in plenty of places that claim to have saunas, and half the time it’s some sad little steam box shoved in a basement corner. This one’s actually proper – hot, spacious enough for more than two people, and the wood smells fresh. After walking around cobblestones all day (and trust me, your feet will feel it), that sauna becomes your best friend.

The apartment itself feels lived-in rather than sterile, which I appreciate. There’s character here – creaky floorboards in spots, windows that require a little muscle to open, that sort of thing. Some people might find that annoying, but it feels authentic to the old town setting. The kitchen’s well-stocked if you’re planning to cook, though honestly, with all the little restaurants tucked into these narrow streets, you might not use it much. Parking can be a bit of a puzzle – the old town wasn’t exactly designed for cars, so you’ll probably end up walking a few blocks from wherever you manage to squeeze your rental car. But that’s pretty standard for this area.

What I didn’t expect was how quiet it gets at night. You’d think being right in the heart of everything would mean noise, but these old buildings have thick walls, and the church square actually empties out pretty early. Well, except on weekend nights when the local bars get going, but even then it’s not too crazy. The 7.8 rating seems about right – it’s not luxury, but it’s solid and has personality. The sauna alone bumps it up a point or two in my book. If you’re the type who likes staying in cookie-cutter hotels, this probably isn’t your scene. But if you want to feel like you’re actually experiencing the place rather than just visiting it, this works really well.
