Dream Stay – Historic Old Town Apartment from 1364
Look, I'll be honest – when I first saw Dream Stay - Historic Old Town Apartment from 1364, I thought the date might be marketing fluff.
Look, I’ll be honest – when I first saw Dream Stay – Historic Old Town Apartment from 1364, I thought the date might be marketing fluff. But walking into this place, you actually feel those centuries. The walls are thick enough that you barely hear the cobblestone streets outside, and there’s this subtle mustiness that’s not unpleasant – it’s more like opening an old book, you know what I mean?
The apartment itself is exactly what you’d expect from a 3-star place that’s been around since before America was even a concept. It’s not going to win any modern design awards, but honestly, that’s kind of the point. The floors creak in that satisfying old-building way, and the windows – well, they’re the original thick glass that makes everything outside look slightly wavy. I mean, you’re literally staying in a piece of living history here. The kitchen is compact but functional enough if you want to grab groceries from the local market (which, by the way, is probably just as old as your temporary home). The bathroom’s been updated thankfully, though the shower pressure is sort of hit-or-miss depending on what time of day you’re washing up.
What really gets me about this place is how it sits right in the heart of everything without feeling touristy. You’ll hear church bells instead of traffic, and in the early morning, there’s actually this lovely quiet before the day-trippers arrive. The 7.7 rating feels about right – it’s not luxury, but it’s not pretending to be. You’re paying for the experience of sleeping where merchants or craftsmen lived over 600 years ago, and that’s pretty wild when you think about it. The hosts clearly know their stuff about the building’s history too, so don’t be shy about asking questions. Just keep in mind that if you’re someone who needs perfect temperature control and soundproofing, maybe stick to the newer hotels. But if you want to wake up and feel like you’ve time-traveled – and honestly, who doesn’t want that occasionally – this little apartment delivers exactly what it promises.

What Our Guests Say
Really easy reach in the Old Town but very close to the major public transport routes in Tallinn new town. The flat is versatile for two couples, a family of five or two small families. It feels historic, has character and lots of space. Plenty of heating if you want it, and a great bathroom with underfloor heating. Big enough dining table is in the kitchen separate from the living room, which was really handy. Our young people loved the deep window sills to sit in.
The office is open all day and until late and the service is really friendly and you get an immediate response on the phone. It's only a short walk away and they arranged a second set of keys for us without a problem.
What could be improved: Unfortunately the bars downstairs are a source of noise until late but I knew to expect it, and even as a fairly light sleeper it didn't prevent me from sleeping very well in the front bedroom because I was really tired when I went to bed myself.
Rooms were comfortable, location was fantastic and the shower pressure was amazing.
What could be improved: Instructions about getting in and leaving could be better. Map of the facility showing where the door to the backyard is for trash, showing where the light switches are in case you come in after dark, etc.
Excellent stay in a unique building! Our family of 5 stayed 10 nights in Tallinn and loved the neighborhood and building. Kitchen was well stocked, internet is reliable, the layout is spacious, the interior bedroom is super quiet, and the location is superb! We would definitely return.
What could be improved: The bar noise on Friday and Saturday nights is disruptive until 5:00am in the morning (or later). The interior bedroom is unaffected, but the streetside bedroom with loft is quite noisy. The kids didn't seem to mind.
Good location in the Old Town
What could be improved: Take ear plugs!! Nightclub / strip bar opposite the apartment open until 4:30am!! Bar underneath the property played music until 3:00am. The quality of sleep on both Weds and Fridays night was so bad we had to reschedule our plans for the next day.
Bellissimi arredi e tanto spazio
What could be improved: L'acqua è imbevibile. Il bagno ha un cattivo odore (vecchie tubazioni) e, facendo la doccia, abbiamo allagato l'appartamento sotto
very beautiful apartment and very close to the main attractions of the city
What could be improved: Toilet room bit small
Location
Nice apartment. Good location
What could be improved: Dust under the beds and shower drain gets blocked up
nice and comfortable with excellent location
The appartment was in the very center of Old town but it was on a street with very noisy bars so we didn't sleep very well. The appartment had all we needed and warm water from the shower.
What could be improved: The building was in very bad shape and parts of the appartment needs some repairing too. The toilet was too small. The lighting in the appartment was too dark in the living room and in the other bedroom. The kids bed was too high up so that was a bit intimitading to sleep in.
