CraftFlat Kalamaja A Overview
You know what struck me first about CraftFlat Kalamaja A? It’s tucked away in this absolutely charming corner of Tallinn that most tourists completely miss – and honestly, that’s part of what makes it so appealing. Kalamaja is this creative, slightly bohemian district that locals have been quietly transforming into something really special over the past few years. I mean, you’re walking distance from these incredible wooden houses painted in pastels that look like they belong in a fairy tale, plus there’s this whole scene of craft breweries and quirky cafes that you just won’t find in the Old Town tourist bubble.
The flat itself feels more like staying at a friend’s place than a typical hotel – which I suppose is exactly the point. It’s got that modern, minimalist vibe but with enough personality that it doesn’t feel sterile. The kitchen is actually functional (rare for a 3-star place, trust me), and I appreciated little touches like decent coffee and proper blackout curtains. The neighborhood gets pretty quiet at night, which was perfect after spending days wandering around the busier parts of the city. What I really loved though was being able to walk to Balti Jaam market in the mornings – it’s this fantastic covered market where locals actually shop, not just another tourist trap. You can grab fresh pastries and watch the city wake up, which beats hotel breakfast any day.
Location-wise, you’re maybe a 15-minute walk to the Old Town, but here’s the thing – you’ll probably want to spend more time exploring right around here anyway. The Telliskivi Creative City is practically next door, and it’s become this incredible hub for local designers, restaurants, and weekend markets. I stumbled across some of the best meals of my trip just wandering around the area. The only minor downside is that it can take a bit longer to get to some of the major tourist sites, but honestly, after a few days in Tallinn you’ll realize that the real gems are often the places where you don’t see tour groups lined up for photos. The 8.0 rating feels about right – it’s solid, comfortable, and gives you a genuine taste of what living in this part of Tallinn actually feels like, rather than just visiting it.
Best hotels in Tallinn range from charming boutique properties in the medieval Old Town to elegant modern hotels with stunning views of Tallinn Bay and ancient city walls.

It has everything you could want for a small apartment like this. The bathroom is clean, the boiler is of adequate size for a scalding hot 20 minute shower, there’s even a washing machine. They provide you with the toiletries and towels. The kitchen is well equipped as well and you have everything you could ask for, minus maybe a toaster, but i toast my bread on the pan anyway. The bed is quite big for a single person. The location is very good, especially for entertainment and night life as telliskivi is like 10 minutes away and the old town is like 20.
What could be improved: There really isn’t anything not to like. Depending on your needs, if you commute to the factories in lasnamäe, the location is not the most convenient, aside from that it’s basically the perfect mini apartment for business travel.Yuliana from Estonia – 1 September 2024 (8/10)
+ Comfortable bed.
+ Plenty of cabinets for clothes.
+ There’s an iron, hairdryer, towels, and various other items for the bathroom and kitchen, including even cereals, tea, and spices.
+ Washer with dryer and laundry capsules.
+ TV with Estonian and international channels.
etc, etc
What could be improved: – Some of the dishes were not fully cleaned.
– At night and early in the morning, the sound of footsteps from the neighbors upstairs was audible.
– The stools near the work panel were too high, making it impossible to sit at the table, so I had to eat on the couch.Anonymous from Estonia – 14 August 2024 (4/10)
What could be improved: Підвал.Тхне пліснявою .В квартирі теж запах плісняви та сирість.

Compact small studio close to the center and only few minutes walk from a bus stop and five minutes walk from a tram stop. It was very clean when I arrived, the bed is comfortable. The apartment is in the cellar but it has two windows on ground level which can be opened when you need fresh air. The apartment is also very quiet, you dont hear much from the neighbors and even the traffic noise is quite limited (when the windows are closed).
What could be improved: The apartment is quite small. There is small table and two chairs for eating but the setting is not especially convenient due to lack of space. I would take the tv out from the apartment and make more room for kitchen but maybe this is a matter of personal preference. Also, to enter the apartment you have to pass through a cellar corridor which is quite dark and really looks like an ascetic basement. Again matter of opinion if this has any relevance.
But all in all can recommend this apartment.
