First Impressions
Walking up to Liivalaia 40 cozy kitchen studio on a quiet side street in Tallinn, you might wonder if you’ve found the right place — it’s tucked into a residential building that feels more like a local neighborhood than a tourist zone. But honestly, that’s exactly what makes this three-star spot so appealing. The entrance is understated, and you get the sense you’re staying somewhere that locals actually know about, not just another cookie-cutter hotel.
The Studio Space
The room itself is exactly what it promises — a compact studio with everything you need and nothing you don’t. The kitchenette is surprisingly well-equipped for such a small space, with a proper stovetop and enough counter room to actually cook a meal if you want to skip the restaurant scene for a night. I mean, the setup works perfectly if you’re the type who likes to grab fresh ingredients from the local markets — and trust me, Tallinn’s got some great ones within walking distance. The whole space feels more like a temporary apartment than a hotel room, which some people love and others might find a bit too minimal.
Location Perks
Here’s where this place really shines — you’re literally in the heart of everything without being on a noisy tourist street. Liivalaia runs parallel to some of the main drags, so you can walk to Old Town in about ten minutes, but you’re not dealing with crowds right outside your window. The tram stops are close by, and there’s actually decent parking on-site, which is honestly a miracle in this part of the city. You know what I noticed? Couples seem to really get this location — there’s something romantic about having your own little hideaway while still being steps from all the medieval charm.
Neighborhood Feel
What I really appreciated was how this area gives you a taste of actual Tallinn life. You’ve got local cafes where people are speaking Estonian, not just English, and small shops that aren’t selling tourist trinkets. The building itself sits in this interesting mix of old and new architecture — you’ll see Soviet-era apartments next to renovated historic buildings, which is pretty much Tallinn in a nutshell. It’s the kind of spot where you can people-watch from your window and actually see how locals live, not just how they cater to visitors.
Why Guests Love It
Look, this isn’t going to be everyone’s cup of tea — if you want daily housekeeping and a concierge, you’ll want to look elsewhere. But for travelers who appreciate independence and a genuine local vibe, it hits the mark. The value is solid for what you get, especially considering that location score isn’t just marketing fluff — you really can walk everywhere that matters. Plus, having your own kitchen means you can start your day with coffee exactly how you like it, which is one of those small things that makes a trip feel less rushed and more like you’re actually experiencing a place.
Tallinn’s hotels showcase the perfect blend of medieval charm and modern comfort, with many featuring digital tour services and authentic Estonian hospitality.

Wonderful Nice and clean place in a good location
Good The apartment was clean, there are skin safety soap and dishwasher. There was chocolate and coffee in the kitchen, salt and some cups.
Very Good everything is good
A good small place to get by the night Perfect location for what I needed at that moment - had an event just across the road - literally! So awesome!
It could be a bit confusing to find the entrance at first although it seems easy and simple.
Loved how easy and convenient it was to get the access to the place.
Small place served the purpose.
A separate rooms but without windows Close to city's center.
Very detailed instructions about how to find a place and get inside.
Separate rooms with individual shower, kitchen place.
Very Good Good location, close to seaport and old town :)
Almost perfectly clean, which is a very important criterion for me!
For a short stay, this is what you need:) Good price-quality ratio.
I recommend:)
Great place to stay! Great place to stay in in Tallinn! Easy to get in at any time, because getting into the apartment is automatic, with pin numbers. Parking lot next to the building.
Very Good Perfectly clean.
Good for it's price It's a good room with own bathroom. It was a little bit hot when arriving (in summer), and no fan or other A/C.... The fridge was very good, but the utilities was minimum (a casserole as we had to use as frying pan...) the smoke detector is located just above the kitchenette, so it was triggered when frying eggs in the casserole.... Nice location and easy to find.
