Tallinn City Apartments Kohtu Residence Overview
I’ll be honest – when I first heard the name Tallinn City Apartments Kohtu Residence, I wasn’t sure what to expect. The whole “residence” thing made it sound either really fancy or sort of institutional, you know? Turns out it’s neither – it’s actually this perfectly solid apartment-style setup that sits right in the heart of Tallinn’s medieval charm without trying too hard to be boutique-y about it.
What really won me over was how the place just… works. I mean, you’re staying in proper apartments with actual kitchens (not those sad little coffee stations), which honestly saved me a fortune since Tallinn’s restaurant scene, while amazing, can add up fast. The apartments themselves have this comfortable, lived-in feel – not like someone decorated them from a catalog and called it a day. There’s decent natural light, the beds are actually comfortable (I’m picky about this), and the whole vibe is more “staying at a friend’s place” than “sterile hotel room.” The kitchens are well-equipped too – I managed to make proper coffee and even cooked a simple dinner with ingredients from the Balti Jaam market, which is just a pleasant walk away.
Location-wise, this is where things get really good. You’re close enough to the Old Town that you can stumble back after exploring those winding cobblestone streets and sampling way too much medieval-themed beer, but far enough out that you’re not dealing with cruise ship crowds at 7 AM. I loved being able to walk to places like Telliskivi Creative City – that’s where the real local energy is, with all the cool cafes and weekend markets that most tourists miss entirely. The tram connections are solid if you want to venture further out, and honestly, having a proper base to come back to after long days of sightseeing felt like a luxury. The 8.8 rating makes total sense to me – it’s not trying to be the fanciest place in town, but it delivers on the basics really well, plus gives you that apartment flexibility that makes longer stays actually enjoyable instead of cramped.
Early hotels booking in Tallinn requires advance planning during peak cultural seasons when visitors flock to enjoy the city’s remarkable medieval architecture and vibrant tech scene.

Nice stay – Ivybt from Bosnia and Herzegovina (8/10)
Very spacious, clean and very well equipped. Really liked Rituals toiletries in the bathroom. Location is good, although if you have any movement issues it should be stated that it is on the hill, you walk up the hill or take many stairs.
Picking up and leaving key was very well instructed and I really appreciate the possibility to leave our luggage in the provived boxes as we were in Tallin early and check-in is in the afternoon.Exceptional – Marieke from Canada (9/10)
Clean, nicely decorated , space for luggage, location etc.

marlee – Marja-leena from Finland (9/10)
The room was very fine, silent, confotable, suitable temperature to sleep, oldfashion but modern type furnised. So nice to make coffee/ tee in apartment and I found the equipment at the place, thank you!

Wonderful – Christopher from Italy (9/10)
Comfortable and spacious apartment in the upper part of the old town. Great location right next to one of the viewpoints, but very quiet despite the number of people walking around in the vicinity. Below ground floor and thick walls meant it kept nice and cool during some warm summer days.
Wonderful – Parkkinen from Finland (9/10)
Really nice, spacious, clean apartment. Super location.
Outstanding value for money in the heart of the old town. – Peter from Netherlands (9/10)
The location, the apartment, and the value for money. Rarely have I staying in a room that offers so much for so little money. A real hidden gem. The apartment itself felt like it is part of history, being a part of the old wall.
