First Impressions
Walking into Tallink Express Hotel, you immediately get that “right in the thick of things” feeling that makes a city break worthwhile. This three-star property sits on Sadama street in Tallinn’s city center, and honestly, the location alone makes it worth considering. The lobby has a clean, modern feel without trying too hard — you know what I mean, it’s comfortable rather than flashy. What struck me right away was how many guests seemed to know their way around, chatting with staff like old friends. Turns out there’s a reason for that.
Location That Actually Matters
Here’s the thing about Tallinn — it’s compact enough that being truly central makes a huge difference, and Tallink Express Hotel nails this completely. You’re literally steps from the Old Town’s cobblestone streets and medieval charm, but also close to the port area where ferries come and go. I watched couples stroll past the hotel windows heading toward Toompea Hill, and it hit me why the location scores so well with romantic getaways. The walk to Town Hall Square takes maybe ten minutes, and you’ll pass some great little cafes along the way that most tourists miss.
The Room Experience
The rooms are what I’d call “smart simple” — they’ve focused on getting the basics absolutely right rather than loading up on unnecessary extras. Clean lines, decent-sized windows, and everything you actually need for a city stay. The beds are genuinely comfortable (I’m picky about this), and the bathrooms are modern without being sterile. What I appreciated most was the attention to practical details — good lighting for reading, enough outlets for your devices, and blackout curtains that actually work. It’s the kind of room where you sleep well and wake up ready to explore.
Breakfast and Practical Perks
The breakfast setup impressed me more than I expected for a three-star place. They do both continental and buffet options, which means you can grab something quick or settle in for a proper meal depending on your plans. The coffee is actually good — not just hotel coffee, if you know what I mean. Having private parking at the hotel is honestly a game-changer if you’re driving, especially in a city center where finding a spot can be a nightmare. These practical touches might not sound glamorous, but they’re the things that make your stay smooth rather than stressful.
Why Guests Keep Coming Back
There’s something telling about a hotel that has more repeat guests than most others in the area. After staying here, I get it — Tallink Express Hotel doesn’t try to be something it’s not, but what it does, it does really well. The staff clearly remember returning guests, and there’s a genuine warmth that develops over multiple visits. For couples especially, this place hits that sweet spot of being romantic without being overly formal, central without being chaotic. It’s the kind of hotel that becomes your Tallinn base rather than just a place to sleep, and honestly, that’s exactly what you want in a city this charming.
Best hotels in Tallinn range from charming boutique properties in the medieval Old Town to elegant modern hotels with stunning views of Tallinn Bay and ancient city walls.

Good I liked the position of the hotel
Decent hotel. Close to both old town and the docks, ideal if you're planning to include a ferry trip. Staff were relaxed and friendly. Breakfast was respectable and you can purchase a lunch buffet at a reasonable price. Nearby Circle K petrol station serves cheap but excellent burgers and hot dogs, plus shop priced beer that you can take back to the hotel if you wish.
