Tähetorni Hotel
Tähetorni Hotel
I'll be honest – when I first heard about Tähetorni Hotel, the name threw me off a bit (it means "Observatory Tower" in Estonian, by the way), but this 3-star spot really surprised me in the best possible way.
I’ll be honest – when I first heard about Tähetorni Hotel, the name threw me off a bit (it means “Observatory Tower” in Estonian, by the way), but this 3-star spot really surprised me in the best possible way. You know that feeling when you walk into a place and immediately think “okay, this works”? That’s exactly what happened here.
The thing that struck me right away was how the staff actually seemed to care about getting you settled in properly. I mean, I’ve stayed at plenty of hotels where check-in feels like you’re bothering someone, but here they take a minute to explain the neighborhood and point out good spots for coffee or groceries. The rooms themselves are what I’d call “thoughtfully simple” – nothing fancy, but everything you need is there and it’s all clean and functional. The beds are actually comfortable (you’d be surprised how many places get this basic thing wrong), and the bathrooms have decent water pressure. Small detail, but when you’re traveling, these things matter more than marble countertops or whatever.
What really won me over, though, was the whole vibe of the place. It sits in this area where you’re close enough to interesting stuff without being right in the tourist chaos – you can walk to proper local restaurants and cafés where you’ll hear more Estonian than English, which I love. The breakfast situation is solid too, nothing elaborate but proper coffee and fresh bread, plus they usually have some local touches that change depending on the season. I stayed there during a quieter period in late spring, and honestly, it felt like I had my own little corner of the city. The neighborhood gets this lovely morning light that makes even the Soviet-era buildings look kind of charming, and there’s something really peaceful about starting your day there before heading into the busier parts of town. Look, if you’re expecting luxury or Instagram-worthy design, this isn’t your spot. But if you want a place that feels genuine and unpretentious – somewhere you can actually relax instead of worrying about whether you’re fancy enough for the lobby – then Tähetorni Hotel hits that sweet spot perfectly.

What Our Guests Say
Exceptional This place has its own unique charm. Very welcoming and supportive staff.
Very Good I had a late arrival and they were quick and efficient in getting me into my room.
It was lovely, thank you It was beautiful inside and out. The aquarium was gorgeous (no clue why anyone would think it was inappropriately sized). Outside has a lovely sitting here.
Good check in time, nice service Ilus ja puhas
Wonderful
Nice hotel in a green area. The room was on the backside of the hotel so it was very quiet. The bathroom was good and had a warm floor.
The breakfast was varied very day. Some herring salads, sausages. Not much fruit though, but that was so in almost all hotels we stayed in in Estonia.
The bar was open 24/7 so you could still get beverages late at night.
The ladies running the hotel desk were all very friendly.
The hotel is in the outskirts of Tallinn and close to a forest area so we could make nice walks directly from the hotel.
A hotel - a expected. This hotel is a good compromise for visiting the city center (by car/public transport), and Tallinn area (easy drive out). The hotel itself is a bit dated but maintained to a level corresponding to expectations.
Good The location was the reason to use this hotel
Old, grimy and tight. Ok for one night at 30€ per peraon
Disappointing Flowers in the yard
