There’s this small Estonian bakery on Punane street that opens ridiculously early (like 6 AM early), and the bread there is honestly better than anything you’ll find in the tourist areas. The Sikupilli Keskus shopping center might sound boring, but it’s actually perfect for grabbing groceries or random stuff you forgot to pack – and the prices are what locals pay, not tourist markup. Parking was surprisingly easy too, which if you’ve tried driving around Old Town, you know that’s practically a miracle. The apartment felt lived-in rather than sterile, if that makes sense. Someone clearly set it up thinking about what travelers actually need – decent Wi-Fi, a proper shower with good water pressure, and a kitchen where you can make real meals instead of just reheating leftovers. I mean, after a few days of restaurant prices in Tallinn’s center, being able to cook became pretty appealing.

The three-star rating is probably about right – you’re not getting marble bathrooms or a concierge, but you’re also not paying for stuff you don’t really need. What struck me most was how the place gave me a genuine feel for how people actually live in Estonia, rather than just seeing the postcard version. The bus connections are actually pretty good (Line 3 runs frequently), and there’s something refreshing about staying somewhere that isn’t trying too hard to impress you. It just works, which honestly, after dealing with oversold boutique hotels that look great in photos but have paper-thin walls, felt like a relief.
