Honestly, when I first heard the name Rotermanni District Bee Apartment, I wasn’t sure what to expect – but this place totally surprised me in the best way. You know how some accommodations try too hard to be quirky? This isn’t that. It’s tucked right in the heart of Tallinn’s coolest neighborhood, and I mean that literally – Rotermanni Quarter is where all the locals go when they want to feel like they’re somewhere between industrial-chic Berlin and cozy Scandinavian vibes.

The apartment itself has this really authentic feel that you don’t get in typical hotels. I’m talking exposed brick walls, high ceilings that actually make the space feel bigger than it probably is, and these amazing windows that let in so much natural light during those long Nordic summer days. The bee theme is subtle – not like they went overboard with honey-colored everything, but there are these sweet little touches that make you smile without being cheesy about it. What I loved most was how quiet it gets at night, which honestly shocked me since you’re literally surrounded by some of Tallinn’s best restaurants and that amazing creative hub energy. I guess the old industrial buildings just have really solid walls.

Location-wise, you’re basically living like a local here. There’s this fantastic little coffee roastery just around the corner – I think it’s called Røst? – where you’ll find more Estonians than tourists, which is always a good sign. And honestly, you can walk to Old Town in maybe ten minutes, but you probably won’t want to rush back because the whole Rotermanni area has this magnetic pull. The restaurants here are incredible (try NOA if you can get a reservation), and there’s always something happening in the courtyards. I stayed there during shoulder season and it was perfect – busy enough to feel alive but not so crowded that you’re fighting for space everywhere. The 8.8 rating makes total sense to me because while it’s not luxury in the traditional sense, it’s got that authentic charm that’s way harder to find these days. Plus, the hosts clearly know what they’re doing – check-in was smooth, everything worked properly, and they actually gave useful local recommendations instead of just handing you a generic tourist map.

  Ubytování bylo jednoduché, se vším co bylo potřeba. A perfektní lokace, tato čtvrť je kouzelná a centrum je pár minut chůzí.
  
  What could be improved: Na delším pobytu jsme potřebovali jednou vyprat, ale bohužel pračka nebyla funkční a také postele nebyly nejpohodlnější. Ale přece jen to vše stačilo.

  It is very clean. They have all the basic necessities for your stay. And, it is near to most of the vicinity spot in Tallinn.

  Tolles Apartment in modernem Wohnkomplex mitten im Rotermann-Virtel (Restaurant, Bars, Shopping in besonderer Atmosphäre). Einmal über die Ampel und ihr seid direkt in der Altstadt.
  
  Zimmer hat alles was man braucht während einem Trip in die Hauptstadt. Self-Checkin unkompliziert über Schlüsselbox am Eingang.
  
  What could be improved: Leitungswasser wie in ganz Tallinn leicht gechlort (für alle die gerne aus dem Hahn trinken).
  
  Kühlschrank Gefrierfach kaputt, dadurch tropft Wasser in und aus dem Kühlschrank.
  
  Keine Klimaanlage, lüften durch 2 Kippfenster möglich. Bei uns war es nicht so heiß, dadurch i.O.
  Fenster zur Hauptstraße hin mit entsprechendem Verkehr (Hinweis für geräuschempfindliche Personen – uns hat es nichts ausgemacht)
  Schon angesprochene zu kleine Vorhänge in Kombination mit klapprigen Rollos lassen kein dunkles Zimmer zu – auch das hat uns nicht gestört.
  
  Aktuell schwierig (Mitte August 23): Großbaustelle in der halben Stadt, erschwerte Ankunft. Auf den vorgeschlagenen Parkplatz zu kommen fast unmöglich. Zum Glück gibt es mehrere (teilweise kameraüberwachte) Alternativen für 6€/24h in der Nähe.

  Host was always very responsive! Apt. clean, efficient and fairly well stocked. Very quiet at night. Location right near restaurants and a supermarket, plus within reasonable walking distances (<2km) to ferries, Kadriorg, and Old Town area. Easy bus ride from/to train station.
  
  What could be improved: The curtains in my room didn't cover the large windows entirely. Bright early mornings.
