Rotermann Urban Art City Escape Overview
Look, I’ve stayed in plenty of places around Tallinn’s Old Town, but Rotermann Urban Art City Escape hits differently – and I mean that in the best way possible. The moment you walk into this place, you realize you’re not in some cookie-cutter hotel. It’s tucked right in the Rotermann Quarter, which honestly feels like Tallinn’s answer to a hip Brooklyn neighborhood, with all these converted industrial buildings that now house galleries, cafes, and design studios. The hotel itself occupies this beautifully renovated space where you can still see hints of the area’s industrial past, but everything’s been transformed into something unexpectedly stylish.
What really got me was how they’ve woven local street art throughout the property – not in that forced, “look how trendy we are” way, but more like… well, like actual artists live here and left their mark. You’ll find pieces from Estonian artists mixed with international works, and the staff actually knows the stories behind them (I ended up in a twenty-minute conversation with the front desk about one particular mural). The rooms themselves are spacious and thoughtfully designed, with these huge windows that flood everything with light during Estonia’s endless summer days. I mean, the rating of 9.8 seems almost too good to be true, but honestly? After staying there, I get it. The attention to detail is incredible – from the locally-sourced toiletries to the way they’ve managed to soundproof the rooms despite being in what’s becoming a pretty bustling area.
Here’s what you should know if you’re thinking about booking: the Rotermann Quarter can get lively on weekends (there’s this fantastic food hall called Depoo just around the corner), but the hotel’s design keeps things surprisingly quiet inside. Parking can be a bit of a puzzle – there’s underground parking, but the entrance is sort of hidden if you’re coming from the Old Town direction. The walk to Tallinn’s medieval center takes maybe ten minutes on foot, and you’ll pass through some of the most interesting parts of the city getting there. What I loved most, though, was how the place felt like a genuine reflection of modern Tallinn – not trying to be Copenhagen or Berlin, but confidently Estonian in its own right. The breakfast featured local producers I’d never heard of, and the coffee was actually excellent, which you can’t always count on in hotel situations. If you’re the type of traveler who wants to feel connected to a city’s creative energy rather than just passing through it, this place will make sense to you immediately.

I had a fantastic stay at this apartment! The location was perfect—close to everything but tucked away enough to be quiet and peaceful at night. The apartment itself was beautifully designed, with thoughtful touches throughout that made it feel like home. The kitchen was fully equipped, which made cooking easy and enjoyable, and the bed was incredibly comfortable—perfect for a good night’s sleep. Check-in was seamless, and the host went above and beyond by sharing great local recommendations. Whether you’re staying for a few days or a few weeks, this apartment has everything you need. The wifi is also perfect for working from home! I would absolutely stay here again!
A litte gem in Rotermanni district – Anonymous from Germany – July 15, 2025 (10/10)
This apartment is a well accomplished combination of old (the building itself) and new (recently renovated, nicely furnished rooms). You will find everything you might need for a short or long stay: useful amenities like a dishwasher, microwave, washing machine/drying rack and WIFI as well as a coffee maker. A very useful feature is the dressing room which has plenty of shelves and space for luggage and other items. The potted plants have to be mentioned as well as they add a pleasant atmosphere to the rooms. Next door is an artisan bakery where people queue to buy freshly baked cinnamon and cardamom buns – the delicious smell wafts up the staircase sometimes, so you know where to go for breakfast. Highly recommended!
Rotermanni is a trendy district of Tallinn, located between the ferry terminals, old town gates and the central crossing Hobujaama: easy to reach yet astonishingly quiet.
