Old Town Studio Apartment Aia 5a Overview

Honestly, when I first walked into Old Town Studio Apartment Aia 5a, I wasn’t expecting much – I mean, the name doesn’t exactly roll off the tongue, right? But you know what, sometimes the best places are the ones that don’t try too hard with fancy branding. This little studio completely surprised me with how thoughtfully everything was set up.

The space itself is compact but smart – and I actually mean smart, not that cramped feeling you get in some European city centers where they’ve just crammed a bed into what used to be a closet. There’s this nice flow from the sleeping area to the tiny kitchenette, and whoever designed it clearly understood that travelers need places to actually put their stuff. The bathroom’s small (well, it’s a studio apartment, so duh), but the water pressure is solid and the whole place stays surprisingly quiet considering you’re right in the thick of the old town. I was there during what felt like peak tourist season, and even with all the foot traffic outside, I could sleep just fine – the windows do their job.

What really gets me about this place is the attention to detail that you don’t notice until you’ve been there a day or two. The kitchen has actual sharp knives (travelers know how rare this is), there’s enough counter space to make a proper breakfast, and the lighting is warm instead of that harsh overhead fluorescent nightmare you find in so many rentals. The location is pretty perfect if you want to be walking distance from everything but not dealing with the absolute chaos of the main tourist drags – you can slip out in the morning, grab coffee from one of those local spots that doesn’t have English menus, and feel like you’re discovering something even though you’re basically in the center of everything. Check-in was refreshingly straightforward too – none of that awkward hunting around for key boxes or trying to coordinate with someone who’s running late.

I’ll be honest, it’s not luxury – there’s no room service or marble countertops or whatever – but that 9.4 rating makes complete sense to me. Sometimes the best travel experiences come from places that just work really well without making a big show of it. You’ll sleep well, you can make your own meals if you want to save money or just need a quiet evening in, and you’re positioned to explore without feeling like you’re staying in some sterile hotel bubble. If you’re the type of traveler who values substance over flashy amenities and wants to feel settled rather than like you’re camping out, this studio delivers exactly what it promises.

Travelers should reserve a hotel in Tallinn at least two months ahead for major events like music festivals, ensuring the best rates and prime locations near historic attractions.

  • Elizabeth from United Kingdom – 2 November 2024 (8/10)

Stylish, good facilities, great location. Easy check in/out. Very helpful and friendly host.

What could be improved: The bed was a little uncomfortable

  • Nick from Australia – 13 July 2024 (10/10)

The apartment was excellent. The location brilliant. The facilities all great.

What could be improved: The property was excellent. The only issue was that we could not find the 7 euro per day parking anywhere as was indicated in the paperwork. We ended up paying 22 euro per day.

Perfect location and very comfortable. A really pleasant stay.

What could be improved: In a perfect world the bed could have been a touch bigger and less hard pillows.

  • Riccardo from United Kingdom – 2 August 2023 (10/10)

Location, super close to Virus gates
No key required to enter the building and the flat
    Quiet
    Very clean
    Super easy check-in and check-out

What could be improved: WiFi comes and goes
    No TV channels available
Shower has hot water no matter what

  • Ondřej from Czech Republic – 23 July 2023 (9/10)

Very close to the city center. The windows are on the oposite site of the street (courtyard), so it's pretty calm. The apartment was beautiful and with everything You need. The courtains block almost all light at night.

What could be improved: The entrance needs reparation and the street is sometimes quite noisy (especially Friday/Saturday night). The bed was a bit smaller for two people.

  • Lg from Australia – 9 July 2023 (10/10)

Fantastic location, right in the heart of the old town but in a quiet area so not noisy to sleep! I thought the facilities were amazing with a small kitchen, washing machine, comfy bed and so much more!

    What could be improved: Nothing!

  • Mid from Australia – 7 May 2023 (9/10)

Location just outside the main gate to the walled city. Clean and brand new accommodation.

What could be improved: Was happy with everything!

  • Peter from Germany – 20 February 2023 (10/10)

A really really really nice place with everything we needed.
the location is close from all the central sights and good to reach also with the tram. the supermarket is directly around the corner. the window doesnt face the street so its really calm. it felt like there was noone else in the whole building so it was a quiet retreat 🙂
all appliances kitchen and bathroom were brand new and absolutely clean and all working.
the bed was hard but still a really good sleep.
the owner is so nice and replies immediatlely if there is a question.
there is nothing we could have wished for more 🙂

What could be improved: nothing bad to say here!
