You know what really surprised me about Old Town – Lai Apartment? It’s one of those places that actually lives up to its 4-star rating without trying too hard to impress you. I mean, when you see “apartment” in the name, you’re not always sure what you’re getting into, but this place gets the balance just right.
The moment I walked in, I could tell someone actually thought about how real people live when they travel. The space feels genuinely lived-in rather than sterile – there’s this warm lighting that makes you want to kick off your shoes immediately, and honestly, the kitchen setup is better than what I have at home. They’ve got proper counter space and appliances that actually work well, which sounds basic but you’d be amazed how many places get this wrong. The bed situation is solid too – not too firm, not too soft, and the linens are that perfect weight where you know you’ll sleep well. I actually ended up staying in an extra morning just because I was so comfortable.
What really won me over, though, is how the place sits in the neighborhood. You’re genuinely in the old town area (hence the name, obviously), but not in that touristy bubble where everything feels fake and overpriced. I could walk to the main sights easily enough, but when I wanted to grab coffee in the morning or pick up groceries, there were these little local spots tucked into the surrounding streets that felt authentic. The building itself is quiet – I was worried about street noise, but the windows do their job well. Check-in was refreshingly straightforward too, none of that overly complicated key situation some apartment rentals throw at you. The 8.6 rating makes total sense when you experience it firsthand – it’s not perfect, I mean the shower pressure could be stronger and the WiFi gets a bit spotty in the bedroom, but these are minor things when everything else works so smoothly. If you’re the type who wants hotel services and daily housekeeping, this obviously isn’t your spot, but if you prefer having your own space to spread out and live normally while you’re exploring, this hits that sweet spot perfectly.

great location, very spacious, cool vintage design, next to a grocery store, right in the center of the old town. the location was awesome, it eas right in the center of the old town 30 m from the main plaza. Right next to the block there is a grocery store and this was very helpful. 8 minutes walk from a paid affordable parking (7 euro/24 h). the appartment was very very spacious, with an awesome living room in a vintage style, big tv, original design. checkin was very smooth as well as the checkout.

We really enjoyed our stay — the apartment was spacious, had an excellent location and the sauna was superb. The location was excellent for exploring the old town. Sauna was a nice shelter from cold weather. The apartment was very spacious and had unique decor. We really enjoyed the provided streaming services.
Perfect for longer stays The living space is magnificent, just like the pictures. It really transports you back in time! The bathroom is also really nice, heated floors, big bath, sauna and luxurious shower. I'm also a light sleeper and was pleased how quiet the place is.
An interesting and enjoyable stay in an interesting property. Location was very convenient and host responsive to questions. Key pick up was well communicated and easy to locate. Property amenities were very good and well supplied.
Big apartment, central location We stayed at the superior apartment with sauna. Central location inside the Old Town. We took an Uber from Tallinn port and got off right in front of the apartment building (it's in front of St Olav's Hotel). It's located just a few blocks away from the Old Town square. There is a 24-hour convenience store a block away. There is a wonderful restaurant (Margherita) on the same block. Quiet location: there was only one other property in this apartment (a foundation that did not seem to be occupied).
Owner sent instructions via email, including on how to get the key (from a lock box) and house rules and even included pictures of the property from the street, the lock box and the trash bins outside the building.
The apartment is very big, with a lot of space. Upon entering the property from the street, you have to go up a flight of stairs and then upon reaching the property itself, you have to go up another flight of stairs (this would be a problem for those with mobility issues; there is no lift). In the living area, there is one single bed and a sofa that can be used for sleeping. On the same floor, there is a bedroom with three beds (one single, one double), and a separate shower and toilet; there is a sauna. On the upper floor (loft) there are three beds (one single, one double) and a narrow sofa bed, and another toilet with bath/shower.
Good stay in Tallinn old town Appartment was in a quiet street and was very tastily furbished. We felt ourselves like at home

Wonderful Location is perfect, in the centr of oldtown, flat has wow effect, we enjoyed sauna. Shop on the first flore is very comfortable thing. Kenedys restourant near by ❤❤❤.
Exceptional It was well equipped, very clean, beds were very comfortable and the apartment was huge.
Only 50m from the old town square, it had a supermarket right next door that was open until 10pm each day.
Had Netflix on the TV as well, over all an amazing apartment and location.
