Look, I'll be honest – when I first heard the name Medieval Home, I was expecting some cheesy castle theme with plastic suits of armor and overdone Gothic touches.
Look, I’ll be honest – when I first heard the name Medieval Home, I was expecting some cheesy castle theme with plastic suits of armor and overdone Gothic touches. But you know what? This 3-star place actually surprised me in the best way possible. It’s got this understated old-world charm that feels authentic rather than gimmicky, and honestly, that 8.5 rating makes total sense once you spend a night there.
The rooms have these wonderfully thick walls that keep everything surprisingly quiet – I mean, you’re not dealing with paper-thin barriers where you hear every conversation next door. There’s something about the architecture that just feels solid, if that makes sense. The stone accents and wooden beams aren’t trying too hard to be medieval; they’re just… there, doing their thing. What really got me was the attention to details that actually matter to travelers. The lighting is warm but functional (you can actually read without squinting), the beds are comfortable without being fancy, and the bathroom setup is modern where it needs to be. I’ve stayed in plenty of themed places where they sacrifice comfort for atmosphere, but Medieval Home gets the balance right.
Check-in was refreshingly straightforward – no long speeches about amenities or pushy upsells, just friendly staff who seem to genuinely know the area. They pointed me toward a couple of local spots I never would have found otherwise, including this little bakery that opens ridiculously early if you’re the type who likes fresh pastries with your morning coffee. Parking was easier than I expected too, which is always a relief when you’re dragging luggage around. The whole place has this lived-in feeling that’s hard to fake – like it’s been welcoming travelers for years without getting jaded about it. Sure, it’s not going to blow you away with luxury touches or Instagram-worthy amenities, but sometimes that’s exactly what you want. It’s the kind of place where you sleep well, wake up refreshed, and remember why you actually enjoy traveling instead of just enduring it.

What Our Guests Say
You can think of it as a medieval guesthouse with a historical atmosphere from the Middle Ages in Estonia. If you’re looking for the comfort of a five-star hotel, this place is not for you, but it is ideal for experiencing the medieval ambiance, as it is very close to the city center and everything is nearby. The owners are extremely helpful, addressing all requests with sincerity and kindness. I was very pleased and will consider staying here again when I visit Tallinn. I also recommend it to everyone.
Amazing place in the center. The room was cozy and very clean! Great for a short stay!
What could be improved: The staircases were steep, and there was a passage that was narrow. But it was manageable!
Really charming place with lots of character. You really feel as though you’re in the heart of old town Tallinn. Fits the medieval feel to the rest of the city.
very central, 3 mins walk from xmas market, lovely medieval building and street, great instructions from host on how to access it. great price for the good location
What could be improved: tiny stone curved staircase to the top floor would be hard to bring suitcases up, it was fine for me as i had a small bag but even going up and downstairs with a full rucksack was a bit challenging, i had to clamber with my hands a bit!
The location could not be better, just off of Old Town Square. Close to restaurants and cafes. Convenient little grocery store close by as well. The owner was great with communications and accommodating. I was comfortable walking from the port where I arrived by ferry, and even easier to train station to leave.
The location was amazing, right in old town. I liked the washing machine.
What could be improved: The shower is not separate from the toilet/sink so everything gets wet. The pillow was small and uncomfortable.
It was in the perfect location and room was very clean.
What could be improved: Not all rooms look like the photos attached. My room was a studio apartment. Not handicap accessible, stairs to the top floor are accessible by climbing them rather than walking up them.
I really loved the location and the mideval style of the place. I highly recommand it!
What could be improved: All was good
It was a central location for the Old Town, but it was hidden away, so it was nice and quiet. The beds were very comfortable.
What could be improved: There was no kettle, so it took at least 20-30mins to make a tea or coffee in a pan, and the bathroom didn't quite live up to the expectations from the photos. It would have been nice if the pipework etc had been hidden away. A squeegee mop for the bathroom would have been good to prevent the floor from becoming too wet and slippery.
This accommodation is exceptional for solo or couple travelers. I wouldn't recommend it for kids just because of the medieval staircase (which was fabulous for myself, as an adult and a historian). The accommodation has all the necessary facilities: great WiFi, washing machine, coffee maker, hair dryer. And it is located in the heart of the Old City! I also recommend the restaurant next door, Dominic, I ate the best duck dish in my entire life there. The communication with the host was perfect. Strongly recommend this accommodation and I hope to come back there!
