Luxury Suites – Old Town by Rikas Hotels Overview

First Impressions

Walking up to Luxury Suites – Old Town by Rikas Hotels on Laboratooriumi Street, you immediately get that “I’m in the right place” feeling. This four-star property sits right in the thick of Tallinn’s medieval charm, and honestly, the location alone makes it worth considering. The building itself has that perfect blend of historic character and modern polish — you know, the kind where they’ve kept the soul but added all the stuff that actually makes your stay comfortable.

Location & Neighborhood

Here’s the thing about staying in Tallinn’s Old Town — you’re literally living inside a UNESCO World Heritage site, and this place puts you right in the center of it all. I mean, you can walk to Toompea Castle in about five minutes, and the Town Hall Square is practically around the corner. What I really appreciate is that while you’re surrounded by cobblestone streets and medieval walls, you’re not dealing with the tourist chaos that hits some parts of the old city. Laboratooriumi Street feels more like where locals actually move through the area, if that makes sense.

The Suites

The room setup here is what really sets this place apart from your typical hotel stay. These are proper suites with separate living areas, which gives you space to actually spread out and feel settled. The kitchenette situation is surprisingly well-equipped — I’m talking full-size fridge, proper cooking facilities, the works. You’re not just heating up instant noodles here. The design strikes this nice balance between contemporary comfort and nods to the historic setting, though they’ve wisely avoided going overboard with the medieval theme that some Old Town places can’t resist.

Practical Considerations

Let’s talk about the stuff that actually matters when you’re staying somewhere. The building is quiet despite being in the city center, which honestly surprised me given how sound can carry in these old stone buildings. WiFi works properly throughout, and the heating system actually keeps things comfortable — not always a given in historic properties. One heads-up though: this is Old Town, so if you’re driving, you’ll need to figure out the parking situation beforehand. The narrow streets weren’t exactly designed with rental cars in mind.

Why Guests Love It

What keeps people coming back here is that perfect combination of authentic Tallinn atmosphere without sacrificing modern comfort. Couples especially seem to get it — there’s something romantic about having your own little apartment-style space in one of Europe’s best-preserved medieval cities. You can grab groceries at the nearby markets, cook breakfast while looking out at centuries-old architecture, then step outside and be immediately immersed in the city’s incredible history. It’s that rare place where you feel like you’re living in Tallinn rather than just visiting it, and honestly, that’s worth quite a bit when you’re trying to really experience a place rather than just check it off a list.

Reviews of Luxury Suites – Old Town by Rikas Hotels

  • Very Good – Kristo from Estonia – May 18, 2025 (8/10)

What could be improved: Little bit cold in the apartment

  • overall great stay we would go back again – Liam from United Kingdom – May 11, 2025 (8/10)

was close to the night life and shops and train station.

What could be improved: could do with a little more central heating although heater fans where provided and did warm the property i would say having more radiators possibly in the bedroom would benefit more customers.

  • Good location, spacious apartment. – Jan from Finland – April 7, 2025 (9/10)

    Microwave oven would be handy.

  • Everything else was fine, but it was very cold there. I'd say it was 15-16 degrees in the room. – Ly from Estonia – February 10, 2025 (7/10)

    It was comfortable and spacious.

What could be improved: It was very cold there!

  • Cozy big apartment with great location for friend groups – Anni from Finland – October 27, 2024 (8/10)

Location was excellent, and the price was great. With a big friend group it was fun that all the beds were in the same room. The apartment was clean. Recommend for a friend group or a family!

What could be improved: The bathroom was poor design since there was no shower curtain or walls, so showering made the whole bathroom floor wet. There was a TV but the channels didn’t work (also no ChromeCast or anything to stream with) so the TV was basically useless. The master bed was quite creaky and noisy. The apartment was for 6 people but there were only 4 chairs at the kitchen table.

  • Nice place in good location – Tomi from Finland – October 4, 2024 (9/10)

Very good location close to center of old town.

  • Wonderful – Pirjo from Finland – July 11, 2024 (9/10)

Excellent value for money. Location was suberb.

    What could be improved: –

  • Very Good – Useme from France – April 1, 2024 (8/10)

What could be improved: The communication with owner is so slow

  • Acceptable – Denis from Estonia – December 2, 2023 (9/10)

    Location

    What could be improved: Interior

  • We realy liked the location and we enjoyed big appartment that has everything you need. – Emīlija from Latvia – August 14, 2023 (9/10)

Grate location, realy big apartment. Everything you need is there- stoves, dishes…

What could be improved: It was little bit difficult to clean the shower so when somebody goes to toilet there is wet floor.
