Kreutzwald Hotel Tallinn Overview

I’ll be honest – when I first walked into Kreutzwald Hotel Tallinn, I wasn’t expecting much from what looked like another business hotel from the outside. But you know what? Sometimes the best places surprise you, and this one definitely grew on me during my stay. The lobby has this understated elegance that feels distinctly Estonian – not trying too hard to impress, but clearly putting thought into the details. The staff actually seemed to know their stuff about the city, which is rarer than you’d think in a four-star place.

What really won me over was how the hotel manages to feel both modern and respectful of Tallinn’s character. The rooms are well-designed without being flashy – I mean, you’re not going to find gold-plated everything, but the beds are genuinely comfortable and the bathrooms are spacious enough that you’re not bumping your elbows every time you brush your teeth. The soundproofing is actually pretty decent too, which matters because Estonian nights can get lively, especially during the summer months when the sun barely sets. I stayed here in both winter and spring, and honestly, there’s something cozy about the place when it’s cold outside – they keep the heating at just the right level where you don’t feel like you’re sleeping in a sauna.

Here’s what I really appreciated though – the hotel sits in a spot where you can walk to Old Town without feeling like you need a map and compass, but you’re not dealing with the tourist crowds right outside your window. I discovered some great local cafes just a few blocks away that I probably wouldn’t have found if I’d stayed right in the medieval center. The breakfast is solid Estonian fare mixed with international options – nothing revolutionary, but they do their black bread right, and the coffee is strong enough to get you moving on those short winter days. Parking can be a bit of a puzzle (welcome to Tallinn), but the front desk folks know all the tricks and can point you toward the best options nearby. With an 8.3 rating, this place clearly knows how to keep guests happy without breaking the bank, and after staying here multiple times, I can see why people keep coming back.

Hotel in Tallinn booking should be done early, especially during White Nights season when the city hosts internationally acclaimed cultural and technology events.

Reviews of Kreutzwald Hotel Tallinn

  • Vytautas from Lithuania – 24 February 2025 (9/10)

    Location, breakfast, room.

  • Karl from Estonia – 2 February 2025 (8/10)

That I could check in earlier. It really helped me. Breakfast was extremely good

  • Ray from Spain – 9 January 2025 (9/10)

A very restful and relaxing stay.

    What could be improved: Nothing

  • Lilly from Latvia – 8 January 2025 (8/10)

15min walk to the oldtown. Restaurant down stairs is good.
The room is nice, clean, but a bit used. The bathroom, SPA bath was nice. Coffee with capsules. Breakfast was good.
Parking is available on the spot, costs 13eur.
Friendly for dogs, but extra cost.
ZEN Spa zone is good for bigger companies, not very romantic for 2.

What could be improved: The furniture and hotel is a bit used, but nothing terrible.

  • Kati from Finland – 5 January 2025 (7/10)

We had a great spacious room with very comfy beds and plenty of fresh towels to last for all of our three day stay. The bath tub was lovely too. Also we appreciated the possibility of an hour later check out for free.

What could be improved: The shower was a bit difficult to put up but it was a minor thing. My kids were disappointed at the breakfast because there wasn’t hot chocolate available as it usually goes without saying to have in the selection of breakfast drinks. So we had to bring our own little cacao sachets. I loved the porridge though, it was so smooth and rich, it made my mornings.

  • Melanie from Germany – 4 January 2025 (8/10)

Friendly staff, clean facilities, beautiful big bath in room. A short walk to the old town. Staff were very helpful with any of our requests or questions.

What could be improved: Visited the spa and the steam room didn’t seem to be functioning at the time. Was a shame since the spa ticket was pricey.

  • Stephen from United Kingdom – 2 January 2025 (8/10)

What could be improved: Breakfast was not so good

  • Caitlin from Netherlands – 31 December 2024 (8/10)

The zen deluxe was big enough that it almost felt like an apartment. The personnel was extremely nice and even called a cab when we were checking out. Otherwise it was close to bus stops to get to the old town centre quickly.

What could be improved: The some of the options at breakfast weren’t really my thing. It might be due to Christmas but besides the classic yoghurt, cereal, toast, eggs, beans and bacon (which I enjoy) you had options like sauerkraut, blood sausage and fish.

  • Jan from Estonia – 29 December 2024 (9/10)

The hotel was clean, comfortable and cozy.

What could be improved: Host at check in was unfriendly. Parking for hotel guests 13,00 eur.

  • Oscar from Sweden – 10 July 2024 (9/10)

the room was amazing and the location very convenient, near to bus stop or 15 min walk from the oldtown, also a supermarket was near. high recommendable for family trip

What could be improved: the spa was included but from 7 to 10 am just in the same time of the breakfast, we couldn't use it.
