Kalev Spa Hotel & Waterpark
Kalev Spa Hotel & Waterpark
You know what caught me off guard about Kalev Spa Hotel & Waterpark?
You know what caught me off guard about Kalev Spa Hotel & Waterpark? I honestly wasn’t expecting such a solid 4-star experience in Tallinn’s hotel scene. I mean, the combination of spa hotel and waterpark sounds a bit gimmicky on paper, but they’ve actually pulled it off really well here. The moment you walk into the lobby, there’s this warm, almost steamy air that hints at the thermal pools waiting nearby – and honestly, after spending a day wandering Tallinn’s cobblestone streets in winter, that humid warmth hits different.
The waterpark itself is what sets this place apart from your typical business hotel. It’s not some massive theme park situation, but rather a thoughtfully designed space with proper thermal pools, saunas (this is Estonia, after all), and enough slides to keep kids entertained while parents actually relax. I spent most of my evening in their salt-water pool – the kind of detail that shows they’re serious about the wellness angle. The spa treatments are surprisingly good too, though I’d book ahead since locals seem to know this spot well. What I really appreciated was how they’ve managed the noise levels; you’d think having a waterpark attached would mean constant echoing and chaos, but the sound design is actually pretty smart. Sure, you’ll hear some activity during peak afternoon hours, but evenings get genuinely peaceful.
The rooms themselves hit that sweet spot of modern comfort without trying too hard to be trendy. Nothing groundbreaking, but the beds are proper quality and – this matters more than people realize – the water pressure in the showers is excellent. Parking was straightforward (not always a given in Tallinn), and the staff genuinely seemed to know their stuff about both the hotel amenities and local recommendations. I’d say the 8.3 rating feels about right; it’s not going to blow your mind, but it delivers on what it promises. If you’re traveling with family or just want something different from the standard Old Town hotel experience, this place makes a lot of sense. Plus, there’s something pretty satisfying about ending your sightseeing day with a proper thermal soak rather than just collapsing in your room.

What Our Guests Say
Exceptional The room was clean and spacious and provided everything we needed for our stay. The staff was friendly. Breakfast was delicious and diverse. The location was great, it was only a 10 to 15 minutes walk to the Christmas market. We really enjoyed the spa, pools, and the water slides. Overall we had a great experience at this hotel.
Good Most of the staff was very friendly. Breakfast offered the usual hotel choices but with some varieties every day. The breakfast room could accommodate many people, even if the corridors could not really well. In general, the area is rather quiet, compared to others downtown.
Wonderful Great spa and great to be able to visit early in the morning. Thanks to the staff for allowing me to leave my things in the room a little earlier, as it was already ready.
Good hotel but not well cleaned The waterpark is quite nice, gym is super complete and location is excelent.
Excellent. No stress and all good. I asked especially for a tub and got it. So thankful for that. The calmness. The waterslide! The pool (50m!) The bed. The breakfast.
Wonderful Love the breakfast and the use of waterpark - which includes water spa treatments and wet/dry saunas.
Very Good suomi sauna
A real pity about the staff. One member even shouted in my face when she clearly couldn’t understand what I wanted The facilities
Good Breakfast was really nice, lots of options to choose.
Very Good The place and location was well suited to our needs.
