Kalamaja apartment with old town view! Overview
I’ll be honest – when I first saw Kalamaja apartment with old town view! listed on Kopli tänav, I wasn’t sure what to expect. Kalamaja has this reputation as Tallinn’s hipster district, and while that’s sort of true, what struck me most was how genuine it feels compared to the sometimes touristy Old Town just across the water. The apartment sits in one of those beautifully restored wooden buildings that the neighborhood is famous for, and you know what? The old town view they promise is actually legit – not some tiny sliver you have to crane your neck to see.
The location is honestly perfect if you want to experience Tallinn like someone who actually lives here. You’re literally a five-minute walk to Balti Jaam (the main train station), which sounds industrial but the area around it has some surprisingly good cafes now. I spent most mornings walking down to the Seaplane Harbour – it’s this incredible maritime museum in old hangars that most visitors miss because they’re too busy taking selfies at Town Hall Square. The apartment itself has that cozy Estonian minimalism thing going on, with thick walls that actually keep the street noise down (something I definitely appreciated after staying in a paper-thin place in Viru Gate area last year). The kitchen’s small but functional – I mean, you’re not cooking Christmas dinner here, but I managed to put together some decent meals with ingredients from the Maxima just down the street.
What really got me was stepping out onto the small balcony in the evening and seeing the medieval spires all lit up across the bay. There’s something magical about watching the Old Town from this distance – close enough to appreciate the details but far enough to take in the whole fairy-tale skyline. The building’s quiet too, which surprised me given that Kopli tänav can get busy during the day with people heading to and from the port. I stayed here during shoulder season in October, and honestly, it felt like having a secret hideaway while still being connected to everything. The walk into the Old Town takes maybe fifteen minutes along the waterfront, or you can hop on tram 1 or 2 if the Baltic wind is being particularly brutal. Just be prepared for some pretty steep cobblestone streets once you get into the medieval part – but coming back to Kalamaja afterward feels like returning to the “real” Tallinn, where locals grab drinks at punk bars and browse vintage shops in converted warehouses.
Best hotels in Tallinn range from charming boutique properties in the medieval Old Town to elegant modern hotels with stunning views of Tallinn Bay and ancient city walls.

What could be improved: Nothing to complain..Wonderful – Niinap from Finland – July 14, 2025 (9/10)
Asunto oli siisti ja puhdas. Yhteydenpito sujui hyvin ja majoittaja vastasi nopeasti viesteihin. Sängyt olivat hyvät ja asunnossa oli kaikki tarpeellinen, kiitos!😊
What could be improved: Ilmaiset kadunvarsiparkit olivat täynnä.
Asunto oli ratikkapysäkkien vieressä,joten melu oli aika kova vaikka ikkunat olivat kiinni.Exceptional – Robertas from Lithuania – June 25, 2025 (10/10)
