I'll be honest – when I first walked into ibis Styles Tallinn, I wasn't expecting much from a chain hotel.
I’ll be honest – when I first walked into ibis Styles Tallinn, I wasn’t expecting much from a chain hotel. But this place actually surprised me in the best way possible. It’s right on Toompuiestee, which means you’re basically a stone’s throw from Toompea Hill and all the medieval charm of Old Town, but you know what? You’re also perfectly positioned to explore the more modern side of Tallinn that most tourists completely miss.
The lobby has this quirky, almost playful vibe that immediately sets it apart from your typical corporate hotel feel. I mean, ibis Styles properties are known for being a bit more creative than their standard siblings, and this one definitely delivers on that front. The staff genuinely seemed to enjoy working there – always a good sign – and check-in was refreshingly quick. What really caught my attention though was how well they’ve managed to blend that contemporary design with subtle nods to Estonian culture. It’s not overdone or touristy, just… thoughtful, I guess.
The rooms are smart without trying too hard. Mine faced away from the main street, which I appreciated because Toompuiestee can get pretty busy during rush hour. The bed was actually comfortable (not always a given with European hotels, let’s be real), and they’ve got these clever little storage solutions that make the space feel bigger than it probably is. The bathroom was compact but functional – hot water pressure was solid, and honestly, after walking around Tallinn’s cobblestone streets all day, that rainfall shower hit the spot perfectly. One thing that stuck with me was how quiet it got at night, even though you’re right in the city center. The windows do their job well.
Location-wise, this is where the hotel really shines. You’re literally a ten-minute walk from Town Hall Square, but here’s the thing locals know – you’re also super close to some fantastic Estonian restaurants that aren’t packed with tour groups. Head down toward the port area, and you’ll find places where actual Tallinn residents eat. Plus, if you’re planning day trips (and you should – Lahemaa National Park is incredible), the hotel’s position makes getting to transport connections really straightforward. The tram stop is right there, and if you’re driving, parking isn’t the nightmare it is in some European city centers.
What I appreciated most was that this place doesn’t try to be something it’s not. It’s a well-designed, comfortable base for exploring Tallinn, with staff who know their city and aren’t just reciting tourist board recommendations. The breakfast was better than expected too – they actually had some local options mixed in with the international standards, which shows they’re paying attention to where they are. For the price point and that 8.6 rating, I can see why people keep coming back. Sometimes you just want a place that does the fundamentals really well, and that’s exactly what you get here.

Perfect room for a family with kids. Room was large, but the bathroom was probably the largest (I've been in similar size rooms) I've ever seen in hotels. Mini fridge was a pleasant surprise. It was a great addition to keeping baby food fresh.
What could be improved: No instructions on air conditioner. Had to Google how to turn that thing off.
We thought it was missing a hairdryer. But it was in a bag on a shelf. Found it last morning only.
Wonderful The breakfast was very delicious, lots of choices.
What could be improved: There was no mini fridge in the room (I didn’t noticed at first when I booked) so It was a little bit shocking. Also there is no free parking. You need to pay 15 eur for day:(
Perfect value-for-money. The location is perfect: just 5 minutes on foot to the old city. The room was small but cozy and comfortable. We had a nice view to Toompea.
Can definitely recommend.
What could be improved: We liked everything.
Very enjoyable would stay again I left keys behind staff were fantastic getting in touch with me and I was able to collect them
Comfortable and cozy. An excellent location because it's very close to the Orthodox Church, the old city, and viewpoints. You start from the top and gradually work your way down, making it very easy to explore and never get lost.
The hotel has a place in the lobby where you can take instant photos for €2. I loved this idea!
There's a stop for cheap buses and trams (€2 per person), and it's easy to pay with your card at the terminal near the operator; Visa and Mastercard are accepted.
The breakfast is very basic but delicious, perhaps a bit pricey for what they offer, but you'll be very satisfied.
The room is very comfortable with air conditioning where you can regulate the temperature yourself, a very large bed, a television with good programming, and bedside tables that are very useful. I liked the lamps on each side of the bed so I wouldn't have to use the entire room's light (you have to leave your room key in a specific place in the hallway to have light in the bed and TV area).
The bathroom had a bathtub (very relaxing), hair and body shampoo, towels, glasses for water, and a hairdryer.
In the entryway, there's a place to put your clothes (small for essentials, although we didn't use it), and there's also a very small refrigerator and a safe.
What could be improved: Some receptionists were friendly and attentive, others less so (like the last one who said goodbye to us...).
*The night before, we had requested a taxi for 9:30 a.m. with another very friendly receptionist. On the morning we were due to leave, we asked the receptionist about our taxi, and she said, "It should be on its way," but she didn't even tell us which taxi company or number it was. There was already a taxi at the entrance, and we didn't know if it belonged to another guest. I told my husband to ask if that was our taxi or which company it was from. At that point, the receptionist called and concluded that the taxi at the entrance was indeed ours 🤦🏻♀️🙄.
*There is no bidet in the bathroom.
😅 Minimal things that don't affect your stay and comfort ☺️
