House in the City Overview

You know what caught me off guard about House in the City? The name is almost comically understated for what you actually get. I mean, sure, it’s literally a house in the city, but this 4-star spot delivers way more personality than that bland name suggests.

Walking in, there’s this immediate sense that someone actually thought about how people live and move through spaces. The lobby doesn’t try to wow you with marble everything – instead, it feels like stepping into a really well-designed friend’s place, if your friend happened to have impeccable taste and a serious budget. The staff genuinely seems to know what they’re doing too, which honestly isn’t always a given these days. Check-in was smooth, no hovering around the desk while they figure out their computer system.

What really won me over, though, were all the little things that show they get it. The rooms have proper bedside lighting (you’d be amazed how many places screw this up), and the walls are actually thick enough that you’re not getting a play-by-play of your neighbor’s phone conversations. The bathrooms have those hooks and shelves where you actually need them – sounds basic, but it’s the kind of detail that makes you realize someone who travels stayed here during the design phase. I also noticed they keep the common areas busy but not chaotic. There’s always this gentle hum of activity, people coming and going, but it never feels frantic or overwhelming.

The 9.0 rating makes total sense once you’ve been there a day or two. It’s not trying to be the flashiest place in town, but everything just… works. The internet doesn’t cut out during video calls, the air conditioning responds when you adjust it, and – this might sound weird – but the elevators are actually fast enough that you don’t find yourself taking the stairs just to avoid the wait. Plus, they’ve figured out that perfect balance where the service feels attentive without being intrusive. Staff remembers your name after the first day, but they’re not constantly asking if you need anything every time you walk through the lobby.

Honestly, it’s the kind of place that grows on you. First night, I thought it was nice enough. By the third day, I was already thinking about booking it again for my next trip. There’s something refreshing about a hotel that doesn’t oversell itself but delivers on the fundamentals so well that you find yourself relaxed in ways you didn’t even realize you needed.

Hotel in Tallinn booking should be done early, especially during White Nights season when the city hosts internationally acclaimed cultural and technology events.

Reviews of House in the City

  • Azizbek from France – 3 February 2025 (9/10)

Everything was perfect. Has all the facilities. Sauna experience was enjoyable.

What could be improved: Beds are a bit uncomfortable. In the bedroom and kitchen, would be good if put more lights or change to brighter bulbs.

  • Peter from United Kingdom – 16 August 2024 (9/10)

    Great location
    Very cosy place
    Lovely hosts
    Free fruit!

What could be improved: Would be nice to have bathroom upstairs but did not spoil anything of our trip.
As frequent visitors to Tallinn we have already enquired to book again for 2 trips next year.

  • Svetlana from Estonia – 29 June 2024 (9/10)

Very nice house, beautiful and well made terrace, the house is in the same territory with the owners, but it did not cause any inconvenience. There are questions to the neighbours who did not like the music that played at 6 p.m., that the neighbour himself entered the territory, but there are no complaints about the owners and the accommodation option. (I think they will solve this issue) They also offer very beautiful ceramic products for an additional fee.

What could be improved: Solve the problem with neighbours who willfully enter your territory and express dissatisfaction with the music that plays at 6 p.m. According to Estonian legislation, there should be no questions until 10 p.m., besides, it was a public holiday and music played within reasonable limits, in general, this fact calls into question the safety and security of guests, but I will not lower the score, because in general we liked everything and I hope you will solve this problem

  • Gary from United States – 29 June 2024 (9/10)

Spacious, clean, and very convenient to catch the bus to city center. Easy to find and a beautiful property

What could be improved: The window in the stairwell could use a shade, it was very hot during our stay and the sun came through and made it very hot, the AC was great for downstairs but it was not upstairs and it was hot, oscillating fan upstairs would be very helpful during the hot days.

  • Karina from Latvia – 5 May 2024 (9/10)

Nice place in the city. Comfortable with a beautiful garden. Interesting interior.

  • Ivona from Croatia – 2 April 2024 (9/10)

Very cute house, close to center of Tallinn, but still very quiet neighborhood. Perfect for mixture of city break trip and relaxing trip. We loved the sauna!

  • Julia from United Kingdom – 19 February 2024 (9/10)

What could be improved: Was problem taxi couldn’t find that address.

  • Yevhenii from Finland – 13 November 2023 (9/10)

    Nice house

What could be improved: It is better to turn on heating day before as house it too cold in winter time

  • Alexander from Georgia – 27 September 2023 (9/10)

Really cozy! Loved it, great value for the price. Owners were really helpful and addressed all issues right away. The location is good, the house itself is incredible! There is everything you need, even a little patio outside that is super nice. Oh and the great thing is that the house is not surrounded by the city lights and we got to see the northern lights!

What could be improved: Honestly nothing
