Hotel Meltzer Apartments Overview

You know what caught me off guard about Hotel Meltzer Apartments? Walking up to this converted historic building on Luise Street, I honestly wasn’t expecting much from the outside – it’s tucked into this quiet residential block just off the main tourist drag. But step inside and you’re hit with this surprisingly modern, almost Scandinavian vibe that somehow works perfectly with the old Tallinn architecture. The lobby’s small but thoughtfully designed, and the guy at reception actually gave me useful tips about avoiding the cruise ship crowds in Old Town (which is literally a five-minute walk away, by the way).

The apartment-style setup is what really sets this place apart from your typical hotel room. I mean, having a proper kitchenette and separate living area makes such a difference when you’re staying more than a couple nights. The furniture’s contemporary without being cold, and there’s enough space to actually unpack your suitcase – something you can’t say about most European city hotels. What I really appreciated was how quiet it stays, even though you’re basically in the heart of everything. Luise Street doesn’t get the heavy foot traffic that the main squares do, so you can actually sleep with the windows open in summer. The Wi-Fi’s solid too, which matters if you’re trying to work remotely or just want to research restaurants without burning through your data plan.

Honestly, the location is pretty perfect for exploring both sides of Tallinn – you’ve got the medieval Old Town right there when you want that postcard stuff, but you’re also close enough to walk to Kalamaja district where the locals actually hang out. There’s this great little Estonian breakfast spot called Røst just around the corner that most tourists never find, and the Balti Jaam market is maybe ten minutes on foot if you want to grab fresh groceries for your kitchenette. I will say the building doesn’t have its own parking (street parking can be a bit of a hunt during peak season), and some of the apartments face the courtyard so they’re darker than others – worth asking about when you book. The 7.8 rating feels about right; it’s not luxury but it’s well-executed and genuinely comfortable. For what you pay, especially compared to the chain hotels near the port, you’re getting way more space and character plus that whole “living like a local” experience that actually feels authentic rather than manufactured.

Reviews of Hotel Meltzer Apartments

  • Very clean and close to Old Town – Hester from South Africa – August 19, 2025 (8/10)

The apartment is spacious and very clean. It has a stove top and pot and pan, so you can prepare food. Also good size fridge. The shower is big and bathroom was also very clean. Enough storage and closet space. It is walking distance from Old Town and has close bus stops and a shop nearby. Although the apartment entrance is on a busy street, the room was very quiet.

What could be improved: Check- in was not user friendly for older person. You have to enter code on door panel, but due to busy street noise, you can not hear if pin was entered.

  • One day stay – Katerina from Finland – August 10, 2025 (9/10)

A nice small hotel near the city center with a big room

  • Wonderful – Samuli from Finland – July 19, 2025 (9/10)

Beutifull room, very clean and cozy.
    Also really large

What could be improved: No AC, BUT thats not usually a problem in Estonia.

  • Nice accommodation – Christina-marina from Greece – July 18, 2025 (8/10)

The room was nice and clean.

What could be improved: It was a bit warm and there was no air-conditioner.

  • Good value accommodation close to old town. – Hildamay from Australia – July 13, 2025 (7/10)

    spacious. met our needs.

What could be improved: We weren't informed how to get access. We arrived at the appointed time – door was locked and nobody answered to phone. We had to ring several times to eventually find someone to let us in. This could have been avoided if they sent the door code instructions in advance.
The next day someone else had the same issues.

  • Decent – Nele from Estonia – July 9, 2025 (7/10)

Clean, quiet, had everything needed, friendly staff.

What could be improved: No parking near the facility, impossible to find a place to even stop the car.

  • Overall, a nice stay at an affordable price. I would stay here again for a transit stop—bringing earplugs next time – Svetlana from Finland – June 30, 2025 (9/10)

The hotel was tidy and remained quiet inside, even though it was a warm summer Friday night. My room was comfortable and had everything a traveller might need.
The hotel was responsive and easy to communicate with throughout my stay.

What could be improved: • Traffic noise from the road made it difficult to sleep, and I didn’t think to bring ear plugs.
    • Carrying my fairly big suitcase up the stairs to the second floor.

  • Wonderful – Terhi from Finland – June 22, 2025 (9/10)

Sauna was very good. Skylight was Luxus and Penthouse👍😊.

What could be improved: Gate for children to stears

  • Very Good – Gita from Latvia – June 11, 2025 (8/10)

Apartment located near to city center. Room was comfortable and clean.

  • Wonderful – Giuseppe from Estonia – May 19, 2025 (9/10)
