Home away from home City Centre Tallinn near Kadriorg Overview

You know what caught me off guard about Home away from home City Centre Tallinn near Kadriorg? The name actually undersells it. I mean, sure, it’s only got three stars officially, but honestly – this place punches way above its weight with that 9.5 rating, and after staying there, I totally get why.

The location is what really makes this spot shine. You’re basically nestled between Tallinn’s medieval old town charm and the gorgeous Kadriorg area where all the locals go to actually relax. I’d walk to Kadriorg Park most mornings – it’s maybe ten minutes on foot – and you’ll pass these little cafes that tourists never seem to find. The palace and art museum there are stunning, but what I loved was just having that green space so close when the city center got a bit much. And speaking of the center, you can easily walk to Town Hall Square, though I’ll be honest, some evenings I’d just grab the tram because, well, cobblestones get old after a full day of exploring.

What struck me most was how the place actually feels like someone’s home rather than a sterile hotel room. The owners (or maybe just the staff – but they felt like owners) seemed to genuinely care about getting the details right. My room had this cozy setup that reminded me of staying at a well-traveled friend’s apartment – not fancy exactly, but everything worked perfectly and felt thoughtfully arranged. The Wi-Fi was solid, which honestly can be hit-or-miss in some of Tallinn’s older buildings. I never had issues with noise either, even though you’re close enough to the action that you can hear the city humming if you open the windows. Actually, I kind of liked falling asleep to those distant sounds of Tallinn settling in for the night.

Check-in was refreshingly straightforward – none of that corporate hotel rigmarole where they try to upsell you on everything. The person at the desk gave me actual recommendations, not just the touristy stuff but places where locals eat and drink. There’s this little Estonian restaurant about five minutes away that I never would’ve found otherwise, and their black bread soup became sort of an obsession during my stay. The breakfast situation was simple but good – fresh bread, decent coffee, and they didn’t skimp on the local touches.

I’ll be real with you – if you’re expecting marble lobbies and concierge services, this isn’t your spot. But if you want to feel like you’re living in Tallinn rather than just passing through it, and you appreciate when a place gets the fundamentals absolutely right without any fuss, then you’ll probably love it here as much as I did. That 9.5 rating isn’t an accident – it’s what happens when a three-star place focuses on being genuinely good at what it does instead of pretending to be something it’s not.

Best hotels in Tallinn range from charming boutique properties in the medieval Old Town to elegant modern hotels with stunning views of Tallinn Bay and ancient city walls.

Reviews of Home away from home City Centre Tallinn near Kadriorg

  • Anna from Poland – 27 August 2023 (8/10)

Apartament bardzo czysty, duży, przestronny. Dwie osobne sypialnie, dwie łazienki i salon z kuchnią. Odległość od centrum około 20 minut spacerem. Darmowy parking. Pani bardzo miła i pomocna.

What could be improved: Łóżko było trochę zbyt miękkie.

  • Pere from Spain – 22 August 2023 (8/10)

Parking en el edificio. Tiene lavadora/secadora, es muy práctico para estancias más allá de unos pocos días

What could be improved: Edificio sin ascensor. Por otra parte, como la mayoría de alojamientos en el país, incluso los hoteles. Excepto los hoteles más modernos que sí que tienen

  • Andrius from Lithuania – 13 August 2023 (10/10)

Great place to reach oldtown of Tallinn and concert place by foot. Very clean and comfortable apartment. Parking place for vehicle.

What could be improved: The mattress is very soft.

  • Petra from Finland – 9 August 2023 (10/10)

Kaikki oli uutta ja puhdasta, ja omistaja oli ystävällinen

What could be improved: Vessa oli erittäin pieni, eikä siellä meinannut mahtua olemaan

  • Tomasz from Poland – 26 July 2023 (10/10)

We loved everything about this place. It smelled new, looked new and was spacious and cozy. It had everything you need and was very tidy. The location was good – wherever we wanted go, we were almost always 20 minute walk away: Old Town, cruise ships terminals, "russalka" beach. There is also a big supermarket 5 minutes from the apartment. We really felt at home here. Last but not least: the hosts were incredibly nice and understanding, and I would like to thank them once more for their hospitality and patience.

  • Viktorija from Lithuania – 25 July 2023 (10/10)

  • Timo from Finland – 17 July 2023 (9/10)

Everything was new and clean, apparently just fixed. Nice place to park a car as well.

What could be improved: For families you might wish to add baby high chair and baby bed as there's plenty of space to store them. And lack of microwave oven was quite strange, but didn't bother us.

  • Tatjana from Italy – 8 July 2023 (10/10)

    Tutto bene

    What could be improved: Niente

  • Anthony from Australia – 22 June 2023 (10/10)

I can thoroughly recommend this property. It's newly refurbished and is immaculate. It has everything you'll need for your home away from home and is ideally located to lots of cool cafes and a short distance to the town center. You won't be disappointed!
