You know what really surprised me about Historic stay at city center? It’s one of those places where the 3-star rating actually undersells what you’re getting. I mean, sure, it’s not going to have marble bathrooms or a rooftop infinity pool, but honestly – who needs that when you’re staying somewhere with this much character?
The building itself has these gorgeous old bones that you just don’t see anymore. Think creaky wooden floors that actually add charm instead of annoyance, and windows that frame the city streets perfectly. I stayed there during a busy weekend in fall, and while you can hear some street noise (it is right in the heart of things, after all), it dies down pretty nicely after 10 PM. The front desk staff – and this is something I always notice – actually seem to know the neighborhood. When I asked about grabbing coffee early in the morning, they didn’t just point me to the hotel restaurant but mentioned this little bakery two blocks over that opens at 6 AM. That’s the kind of local insight you want, you know?
What really makes this place work is how they’ve managed to keep the historic feel without making you feel like you’re camping. The rooms are comfortable in that lived-in way – not sterile like some chain hotels, but not shabby either. My room had this amazing old radiator that kept things perfectly warm, and the bathroom, while compact, had surprisingly good water pressure. I’ll be honest, the WiFi could be stronger (though it worked fine for emails and scrolling), and parking can be a bit of a hunt during peak hours – but that’s city center life for you. The 9.4 rating makes total sense once you’re there because it’s clear they’ve figured out how to balance authenticity with actual comfort. It’s the sort of place where you feel like you’re staying somewhere with a story, not just somewhere to sleep between tourist activities. Plus, being right in the center means you can walk to most of the good stuff – restaurants, shops, that little park with the weekend market – without dealing with cabs or public transport every time you want to step outside.

What Our Guests Say
Koselig liten leilighet i en sliten flermannsbolig. Delikat interiør og sentral beliggenhet. Ca 30 minutter å gå til sentrum. Stille område.
What could be improved: Veldig hard seng, og renholdet var ikke det beste.
