Historic Apartment with Private Garden in Old Town Overview
I stumbled across the Historic Apartment with Private Garden in Old Town almost by accident — you know how it is when you’re wandering the cobblestone streets and something just catches your eye. This place honestly surprised me more than I expected for a 3-star spot, and that 8.6 rating makes perfect sense once you’ve actually stayed there.
What really sets this apartment apart is that private garden I mentioned. I mean, finding any outdoor space in the old town is like striking gold, but having your own little slice of greenery where you can actually sit with morning coffee? That’s something special. The apartment itself has this wonderful lived-in feeling — not sterile like some vacation rentals, but genuinely historic with thick stone walls that keep things cool even during summer afternoons. The floors creak a bit (character, I call it), and there are these quirky architectural details that remind you this building has been housing people for probably centuries. Actually, the bathroom is surprisingly modern, which was a pleasant surprise after I’d mentally prepared myself for vintage plumbing adventures.
The location is honestly perfect if you want to feel like you’re living in the old town rather than just visiting it. You’re tucked away enough that tour groups aren’t constantly streaming past your windows, but close enough to everything that matters — I could walk to the main square in maybe five minutes, less if I took the shortcut through that narrow alley (locals know the one). Mornings are beautifully quiet, though you’ll hear church bells marking the hours, which I actually found charming rather than disruptive. Parking can be tricky if you’re driving — the streets here weren’t exactly designed for cars — but there’s a public lot about a ten-minute walk away that’s not too expensive. The check-in process was refreshingly straightforward; the owner met me personally and gave me this impromptu mini-tour of the neighborhood, pointing out which bakery opens earliest and where to find the best evening aperitivo spot. You know what really impressed me though? The attention to small details. Fresh herbs growing in the garden that you’re welcome to use, really good Wi-Fi (crucial for me since I was working remotely), and this cozy reading nook by a window that gets perfect afternoon light. Sure, it’s not fancy in a luxury hotel way, but it’s got something better — authenticity and genuine warmth that makes you feel like you’ve discovered a hidden gem rather than just booked another generic accommodation.
Hotel in Tallinn booking should be done early, especially during White Nights season when the city hosts internationally acclaimed cultural and technology events.

Reviews of Historic Apartment with Private Garden in Old Town
Gregory from Australia – 15 January 2025 (7/10)
Location was fabulous and an historic rustic feel
What could be improved: Euro 100 deposit was unnecessary. The bed was way too firm for me and the mattress was lumpy and the pillow flat. I think it time for an upgrade.Natalie from Australia – 7 December 2024 (6/10)
The staff were exceptionally helpful and responsive as we booked this stay a couple of hours prior to arriving. We had to sign a booking form online and provide a security deposit, which was fine, although took a bit of time to complete. The location was great, walk to town and a lovely cafe very close! It’s a cute apartment.
What could be improved: The apartment smelled musty like mould when we arrived. We opened the windows to allow the fresh air in, which helped. The bathroom also had some peculiar smells, I think coming from the sewerage or drains. Also, the pictures appeared we would be able to have a fire, however the fireplace was locked shut and no wood provided. There was also noise like dripping sounds when sleeping as well as the water heating going on and off throughout the night.Georgia from United Kingdom – 7 December 2024 (7/10)
Location and room style was amazing! Just like the pics with old medieval themed room!
What could be improved: Not perfectly clean eg rug needed a hoover and under toilet seat was public hairs on arrival- get a better cleaner! Also no tea or coffee providedHelen from Ireland – 2 October 2024 (7/10)
Location in Old Town was excellent
What could be improved: No number on apartment so taxi just had to drop us nearby.
Initial entry to the apartment was confusing.
Leaving instructions meant that we were standing outside the premises on the street in the pouring rain for almost 10 minutes.
Heating problematic and was so cold at nights.
Sewage smell in the bathroom especially after the rain and it was in the living area.
No extra blankets or towels.
Self catering – only 1 teaspoon!!
We booked out a day early.Anet from Canada – 2 September 2024 (9/10)
Great oasis in the middle of the Old Town.
What could be improved: I wish the lawn would have been mowed at arrival.Jonathan from United Kingdom – 29 August 2024 (9/10)
Rustic and authentic tallin

Medieval charm, amazing location, lots of space, comfortable bed and in sync with the vibe of old Tallinn
What could be improved: There was little to not like. If anything could be improved, I would suggest a stand to place a suitcase rather than having to put it on the floorIan from Singapore – 26 July 2024 (9/10)
Apartment has a large garden patio with an apple tree and roses set within Tallinn Old Town, along with a front-row view of the historic Kiek in the Kok tower. The interior is tastefully furnished, with medieval walls, wooden beams, a fully equipped kitchen, and spacious toilets. There was also a seating area and two separate work desks. Parking around the corner for a discounted price of 12€ per day was offered upon request, which made things very convenient.
What could be improved: Pillows were far too soft. Nevertheless fully enjoyed our stay.Dawn from United Kingdom – 25 July 2024 (9/10)
This apartment was the nicest place to stay. It was comfortable, well equipped – we even bought a teaspoon following earlier reviews!!!
It was spacious. The garden was delightful with a wonderful view of the tower. Also in a fabulous location close to the historic centre and plenty of bars and restaurants.
What could be improved: Nothing at allAlan from United Kingdom – 4 July 2024 (9/10)
This is a deightful apartment. It is full of character, yet very practical. It has a comfortable bed, an excellent kitchen and a very large bathroom. It is also right in the centre of the old town so it couldn't be more convenient. Finally the little garden was really great for sitting out if the weather was good enough.
What could be improved: Well not much. If I have to be picky, I found the setee and chairs a bit low, but I am tall. Alsothe towels were quite small.
