Hektor Container Hotel Overview
You know what caught me off guard about Hektor Container Hotel? Walking up to it, you’re literally looking at repurposed shipping containers stacked and arranged into this surprisingly sleek three-story structure. I mean, I’ve seen container hotels in photos before, but experiencing one in person is totally different – there’s something oddly satisfying about staying in what used to haul cargo across oceans.
The rooms are way more spacious than you’d expect from a converted shipping container, honestly. The designers really knew what they were doing with the layout – nothing feels cramped or claustrophobic like I was worried it might. The industrial aesthetic works really well too, with exposed metal walls that have been painted in these warm, muted tones. You get this cool contrast between the raw container structure and surprisingly comfortable furnishings. The beds are actually quite good (I’m picky about mattresses), and each room has these clever built-in storage solutions that make the most of every square inch. What I really appreciated was how quiet it stays at night – those thick metal walls are basically soundproof, which is something you don’t think about until you’re trying to sleep.
The whole place has this laid-back, almost artistic vibe that attracts a really interesting mix of travelers. During my stay, I met everyone from digital nomads working remotely to architecture students who came specifically to see the container design. The communal areas encourage conversation in a way that feels natural, not forced – there’s this outdoor courtyard space between the container blocks where people tend to gather in the evenings. Check-in was refreshingly straightforward, none of that overly formal hotel lobby nonsense. The staff genuinely seems to enjoy working there, which always makes a difference in how welcome you feel. I will say the WiFi can be a bit spotty in some containers depending on where you’re positioned, but it’s reliable enough for most needs. For a three-star place, they’ve really nailed the balance between unique experience and actual comfort – you get the novelty of staying in a shipping container without sacrificing the basics you need for a good night’s rest.
Early hotels booking in Tallinn requires advance planning during peak cultural seasons when visitors flock to enjoy the city’s remarkable medieval architecture and vibrant tech scene.

Reviews of Hektor Container Hotel
Exceptional – Agneta from Latvia (9/10)
Loved the unusual container hotel. Very artsy. Great beds, pillows, good a/c, fun light setup. Very over thought design. Would totally recommend it to friends and most likely will return to stay there when visiting again. Great area as well lots of places to eat, chill and have drinks.
Wonderful – Gunnar from Germany (9/10)
I really like the idea to have rooms made of containers. It perfectly fits to a harbour city like Tallinn, and to the fact that the beautiful building was a former train depot.
The contrast between old building and modern hotel infrastructure is great.
The hotel breakfast was really nice. If one needs something, there is a supermarket just across the street and a great market hall right behind the building. There are also several restaurants close by.Unique place, excellent experience – Jonas from Lithuania (9/10)

Exceptional – Natalia from United States of America (9/10)
Everything! The staff were so nice, polite and very helpful. The room was very clean and organized, fresh and cleaning linens, restrooms so clean. They had a very comfortable bed, they have the best bed we had in our two week trip. They have a super yummy breakfast, fresh and a lot variety – strongly recommend. There is a supermarket in front of the hotel and the BBQ place next to it had amazing food. Also, easy access to the tram.
I definitely recommend to try this hotel. – Mariia from Sweden (9/10)
It was exceptional experience that I really loved.
Very special hotel with special design. The bed was really one of the best I slept on. We have had everything we needed. We had some problem with the hitting and the room was really cold. But after one call staff checked it and changed our room, so we really could have good experience.Very Good – Siobhan from Ireland (8/10)
Different, great if you want to be away from people
An amazing place for a city visit! Will definitely come back. – Polina from Latvia (9/10)
The location was truly amazing, everything so close by. The hotel itself was very modern, comfortable and clean.
A peaceful and cozy accommodation in a perfect location. – Laura from Finland (9/10)
The hotel was in a fantastic location, in the most interesting neighborhood of Tallinn. The hotel itself was modern and cozy, and the small containers were surprisingly comfortable, with a special mention for the excellent beds and pillows! The breakfast was simple but surprisingly good, with lovely local flavors. The common areas were also nice, offering a chance to hang out as a group.

We stay in this hotel second time. It is well located. The concept is interesting. I would prefer "normal" hotel, but my son (teenager) adores sleeping in container.
