I’ll be honest, when I first walked up to Dream Stay – Bright 2-Bedroom 2-Floor Old Town Apartment on Lai Street, I wasn’t sure what to expect. The building itself has that weathered medieval charm you see all over Tallinn’s Old Town, but once you get inside – well, it’s actually a pleasant surprise. The apartment spreads across two floors, which gives it this almost house-like feel that’s pretty rare when you’re staying right in the heart of the historic center.

What really struck me was how genuinely bright the place is (they weren’t just throwing that word around in the name). The windows face the right direction to catch morning light, and you know how those old stone buildings can feel like caves sometimes. This one doesn’t. The two bedrooms are decent-sized – I mean, we’re talking Old Town here, so don’t expect suburban American master suites, but there’s actually room to unpack your stuff without living out of a suitcase. The kitchen’s functional enough if you want to grab groceries from the Rimi down the street instead of eating out every meal, though honestly, with Olde Hansa and all those medieval-themed spots just a few cobblestone streets away, you might not cook much.

Here’s the thing about staying on Lai Street – you’re literally a three-minute walk from Town Hall Square, but you’re just far enough off the main tourist drag that it doesn’t sound like a party’s happening outside your window all night. I actually slept pretty well, which is saying something because I’m usually sensitive to street noise. The building has thick walls (thank you, 14th century construction), and while you’ll hear some footsteps from other apartments, it’s not terrible. Check-in was straightforward – they meet you at the property, show you around, explain the quirks of the old heating system. You know, the usual stuff you need to know about these converted historical buildings. Parking’s going to be your main headache if you’re driving, but that’s true anywhere in Old Town. Most people just park outside the city walls and walk in anyway.

The whole setup works especially well if you’re traveling with friends or family and want more space than a typical hotel room. Having two floors means someone can stay up late planning the next day’s adventure to Kadriorg Park or figuring out ferry times to Helsinki, while others can actually get some sleep upstairs. It’s got that homey feel without being too precious about it – comfortable furniture, reliable WiFi, hot water that actually stays hot. The 7.4 rating seems about right to me. It’s not luxury, but it’s solid and the location really can’t be beat if you want to be in the thick of things. I’d definitely consider staying here again, especially in shoulder season when the Old Town has that perfect balance of being lively but not overwhelmed with cruise ship crowds.

  The space is discreet and it adds to the character of the apartment. Lovely setting as well. Out of the way from all the main tourist bits but not far from them so you get a good balance of both.
  
  What could be improved: Pressure for the shower went a couple of times. It would come back but not necessarily ideal if you're trying to get ready.
  
  Plus the kitchen could be stocked with a frying pan as well.
  
  Door can be a bit difficult at times to open, would be nice if there was some further instruction in future and maybe add some blackout curtains in the bedrooms.
  
  Plus maybe get some softer pillows

  very well located and easy access by taxi. Tons of restaurants and bars. The apartment itself was clean and well laid out. lots of natural sunlight. Instructions for key pickup and wifi were clearly provided. Friendly neighbors.
  
  What could be improved: Beds needs to be replaced and the pillows were too flat and small for my preference. No curtains or blinds in the bedrooms so it's impossible to sleep in after a long night, as the sunlight come right in.

  What could be improved: Everything was fine except locks on the doors. They were pretty hard to open without experience. Both in entrance to house and in apartment.

  What could be improved: It is not possible to get a shower! No water, especially in evening no water at all, water flow in the morning so poor that not possible to wash your hair. Also no pan in kitchen

  We found the property was poorly maintained. The staircase to the upper level is steep and dangerous missing a handrail at the top level. It is well located in Van Linn though
  
  What could be improved: Our major concerns was the upstairs shower stopped intermittently leaving you standing wet and soapy with no water. The kitchen is located directly next to the toilet and kitchen bench had massive chaos where germs could breed

  Asunto on iso ja todella kaunis. Isot ikkunat, puulattia ja kaksi makuuhuonetta ylhäällä. Kylppärissä oli jopa pesukone. Löysimme avaimet helposti ja sijainti oli erinomainen, vain lyhyt kävely raatitorille. Ruokakauppa on myös muutama sadan metrin päästä (Rimi Express) ja siellä on runsaasti ravintoloita ja kahviloita. Pihalla oli ystävällinen valkoinen kissa. Kaupungissa on helppo liikkua Bolt sovelluksen avulla. Ruokaa saa myös Woltilta, esim. ekan päivän aamupala. Käsisaiput tuoksui älyttömän hyvältä 😉
  
  What could be improved: Valaistus on liian kova, puuttuu makuuhuoneiden pöytälamput ja vaikka olohuoneessa jalkalamppu, että saa vähän tunnelma. Ei ole verhoja, eli makuuhuoneet eivät ole aamulla kovin pimeitä. Toisen talon seinä on kyllä niin lähellä, ettei näe sisälle. Paistinpannu ja oikea kahvinkeitin olisko hyvä lisätä. Ja oli vain yksi rulla vesipaperia, mikä huomattiin liian myöhään. 😀 Sängyt ovat aika kovia, veden paino ylhällä heikko ja yksi varatyyny oli vähän likainen, tummat hiukset kylppärin seinällä ja pesuallas tukossa. WC siis alakerrassa ja jyrkät rappuset. Varauksen yhteydessä piti maksaa 100€ deposit (sain jo takaisin) ja skannattaa henkilökortin. Mutta muuten kaiken kaikkiaan kiva paikka! Tullaan ehkä uudestaan.
