The apartment sits right in that sweet spot where you’re close enough to everything but not directly on the main drag where those tour groups gather at 7 AM. Trust me, your sleep will thank you for that.

What surprised me most was how quiet it gets at night, considering you’re smack in the city center. The building’s got thick walls – probably built back when they actually cared about that stuff – and the bedroom faces away from the street. I was expecting to hear every drunk tourist stumbling back from the medieval taverns, but honestly, I slept better there than I do at home sometimes. The apartment itself feels more spacious than you’d expect for a European city center spot. There’s this little kitchenette that’s actually functional (not just for show like some places), and the living area has these big windows that let in tons of light during those long Estonian summer days. You know what really got me? The owner left this handwritten note with local recommendations – not the typical tourist traps, but places where locals actually go. Found this incredible rye bread at a bakery I never would’ve discovered otherwise.

Sure, it’s not luxury – we’re talking 3-star territory here – but sometimes that works in your favor. No pretentious front desk staff, no weird fees for using the wifi, just a comfortable place to crash while you explore one of Europe’s best-preserved medieval cities. The 8.5 rating makes sense once you’ve been there… it’s that kind of place that does the basics really well without trying too hard to impress. Plus, and this is huge if you’re planning to explore beyond Tallinn, you’re walking distance to both the bus station and ferry terminal. I caught a morning ferry to Helsinki without having to deal with taxis or figure out public transport with my luggage.
