What really won me over was how perfectly positioned this place is for actually experiencing Tallinn like a local. You’re literally a five-minute stroll from Toompea Hill (honestly, you can see it from some of the upper floor windows), and the Freedom Square is right there when you want to people-watch or grab coffee at one of those sidewalk cafés. But here’s what the guidebooks don’t tell you – you’re also walking distance from some of the best Estonian restaurants that locals frequent, not just the touristy spots in Old Town. The Kaarli area has this lovely residential feel in the evenings, so you’re not dealing with drunk tour groups stumbling around at midnight, which… trust me, matters more than you’d think.

The rooms themselves are what I’d call “smart small” – they’ve clearly thought about how to make the space work without feeling cramped. The beds are surprisingly comfortable (I’m picky about this), and the bathrooms are modern without trying too hard to be trendy. You know what I really appreciated? The windows actually open properly, so you can get that fresh Baltic air flowing through. During summer evenings, you’ll catch the sounds of the city winding down, but it’s never disruptively noisy. The Wi-Fi works reliably throughout the building too, which seems basic but you’d be amazed how many places still struggle with this. Parking can be a bit of a puzzle in this area – there’s street parking but it fills up quick during business hours, so I’d recommend asking the front desk about their recommendations when you check in. They usually have some insider knowledge about nearby spots that won’t cost you a fortune. That 9.7 rating makes sense once you’ve stayed here – it’s not trying to be something it’s not, just doing the fundamentals really well with genuine Estonian hospitality.
