Apartment in Tallinn Old Town Overview
I’ll be honest – when I first booked the Apartment in Tallinn Old Town, I was a little skeptical about staying right on Viru Street. I mean, it’s literally in the heart of everything, and you know how city centers can be. But walking up to the building, tucked right there between the medieval charm and the buzz of Tallinn’s most happening area, I actually got excited. The location is sort of ridiculous in the best way possible – you’re maybe two minutes from Raekoja plats (Town Hall Square) and even closer to all those winding cobblestone streets that make Old Town so magical.
What really surprised me was how quiet it actually gets at night, despite being so central. Sure, during the day you’ll hear people wandering around – tourists figuring out their maps, locals chatting in Estonian as they head to work – but once evening settles in, it’s surprisingly peaceful. The apartment itself feels authentically local rather than touristy, which I loved. The windows look out onto medieval walls and red-tiled rooftops, and honestly, waking up to that view never got old during my stay. The space has this lived-in comfort that makes you feel like you’re borrowing a friend’s place rather than staying in some sterile hotel room. I spent way too much time just sitting by the window with coffee, watching people navigate the narrow streets below.
Here’s what I wish someone had told me before I arrived – parking is basically impossible right there (well, not impossible, but you’ll be circling forever), so just use one of the lots outside the Old Town walls and walk in. It’s like a five-minute walk anyway, and you’ll want to explore on foot regardless. The building entrance is easy to miss if you’re not paying attention; it’s one of those understated doors that blends into the historic streetscape. Check-in was straightforward, though I’d recommend coordinating arrival times in advance since it’s not a traditional hotel setup. The 9.2 rating honestly makes sense once you’re there – it’s not trying to be fancy, but everything works well and the location is just unbeatable. You can stumble out the door and be at some of the best restaurants in the city, or walk to Toompea Hill to catch sunset views over the Baltic. I found myself coming back throughout the day to drop off shopping bags or grab a jacket, which you can’t really do when you’re staying outside the Old Town. For the price and the experience of actually living in medieval Tallinn for a few days, it’s pretty hard to beat.
Hotel in Tallinn booking should be done early, especially during White Nights season when the city hosts internationally acclaimed cultural and technology events.

What could be improved: NoneHyvä ja hiljainen huippusijainnilla! – Heikki from Finland – May 26, 2025 (8/10)
What could be improved: Suihku!
Exceptional – Luīza from Latvia – May 18, 2025 (10/10)
